Job description

Start at $18.31 if you have a PSS/CNA Certification, with weekend and holiday pay differential!! We also offer Health Insurance for PSS working 30 or more hours per week, along with other great benefits.

Are you looking for a position that provides scheduling flexibility and an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of older adults living independently in their own home? If so, then consider working for us as a Personal Support Specialist. Part‑time and full‑time hours are available throughout all of Aroostook County—especially in Southern Aroostook. If you have a current PSS Certification, you will receive a $500 bonus after working at least 20 hours a week for 6 months. If you do not have a PSS Certificate, we will pay for your class and upon successful completion and 6 months of working for us, you will get a $250 bonus. Competitive pay and benefits. POSITION SUMMARY

Personal Support Specialist (or Certified Nursing Aid) will be responsible for completing tasks outlined in the Care Plan for each individual consumer.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS

1. Ability and willingness to attend trainings as scheduled.
2. Ability to attend classes to become Certified as Personal Support Specialist, if not currently certified.
3. Ability to understand basic procedures.
4. Ability to perform mathematical functions accurately.
5. Ability to recognize and prioritize responsibilities and to multitask.
6. Ability to understand specified federal and state regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers for job duties. Must be able to follow verbal and written directions. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a variety of residential homes, some of which may be unsanitary. Travel may be required in all types of weather conditions. Ability to remain calm in crisis situations. Limited exposure to blood‑borne pathogens.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION

Experience and skill requirements – the following requirements and skills are considered essential.

• Certified as a CNA and currently listed on the State of Maine Certified Nursing Assistant registry.
• Certified as a PSS and currently listed on the State of Maine Personal Support Specialist registry.
• Willing and able to take, complete, and pass a certified PSS class, paid for by AAA.
• Comfortable with technology and learning new software as it applies to the job.
• High attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Trustworthy, dependable, and arrives to work as scheduled.
• Must pass a pre‑employment physical.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
