Gregory Poole Equipment Company is seeking a PSD Rental Prep/ Yard Technician to maintain rental inventory and the yard by properly receiving and disbursing equipment. Responsibilities include check-in/out, updating system status, and staging equipment for deployment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of mechanical experience in a yard or fleet setting.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and operate a forklift.
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive for extended periods.
• Comfort with basic computer systems and inventory software.

Responsibilities

• Receive and disburse rental equipment and maintain PSD Rental inventory.
• Perform equipment check-out before delivery and check-in after return.
• Update equipment status in business systems within the required timeframe.
• Organize and stage Rental Return and Rental Ready lines.
• Prepare equipment for delivery, including loading/unloading and fueling/DEF checks.
• Inspect equipment for reliability and perform routine maintenance.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and basic repairs as assigned.
• Ensure safety and proper use of tools and chemicals.

Primary Function

The PSD Rental Prep/ Yard Technician maintains PSD Rental inventory and yard by properly receiving/disbursing rental equipment that is returned and that is shipped. The duties include maintaining the organization of PSD Rental assets on the PSD Rental yard.

Equipment Check-In / Check-Out and System Updates

• Perform equipment check-out prior to customer delivery or pickup following inspection
• Perform equipment check-in upon return from rental activity
• Communicate equipment status updates to PSD Rental Specialist, Inventory Coordinator, and Rental Operations Manager
• Update equipment status in business systems within four hours of dispatch or return and no later than end of business day

Rental Yard Inventory Management

• Maintain organization of rental yard inventory to ensure accurate tracking and readiness
• Establish and maintain Rental Return Line and stage all returned equipment until checked in and prepped
• Establish and maintain Rental Ready Line and stage all serviced equipment after preparation for deployment

Equipment Preparation, Loading, and Logistics

• Prepare PSD rental equipment for customer delivery including loading and unloading trucks
• Move and relocate generators, air compressors, air conditioners, chillers, and related equipment using forklift or yard tractor
• Verify and top off fuel and DEF levels as needed and record usage for customer billing
• Test run rental equipment and perform load bank testing and operational adjustments as required

Equipment Inspection, Maintenance, and Repair

• Inspect and test rental units prior to delivery to ensure operational reliability and presentation standards
• Perform routine maintenance including washing, cleaning, and paint touch-ups on rental equipment
• Conduct minor repairs as assigned by Supervisor or Lead Technician
• Work with various materials and chemicals including fuels, acids, solvents, paints, and cleaning agents

Tools, Safety, and Operational Support

• Use basic hand tools to support maintenance and repair activities
• Utilize specialized tools provided for equipment service and diagnostics
• Follow assigned work priorities and complete tasks as directed by supervisory staff

Education

Work Experience

• 3+ years of related mechanical experience.

Physical

• Must be able to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend and climb beside, onto and underneath various equipment to perform diagnosis and repairs.
• Must be able to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports.
• Must be able to routinely and physically lift/position various parts to perform repairs/service and manually handle parts up to 80 pounds, as well as use mechanical hoist for heavier parts.
• Must be certified and capable of operating a forklift to move assets.

Other

• Has operated or can quickly learn to operate various PSD Rental products or equipment.
• Must be able to effectively communicate using telephone to receive instructions and to provide service information.
• Demonstrates and communicates genuine customer service skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend shipping information and follow through on verbal communications
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrate good organizational skills.
• Must have basic PC skills, preferably with MS Office (Word, Outlook and other Windows based programs).
• Must be able to daily operate a service vehicle and drive for extended periods to reach customer's locations.
• Conduct all business and social activities in a manner which reflects integrity and professional excellence.
• Must have and maintain a valid state drivers license (obtain within 30 days of hire a valid license within the state of GPEC's operation) AND possess a safe driving record, as outlined in our GPEC Motor Vehicle Policy. Some vehicles may require having or obtaining a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and/or a DOT medical card.
