Job summary

Brightli in Missouri seeks a Counselor/Therapist to provide ongoing individual and group counseling to assigned population and to document clinical necessity per program standards.

Position involves crisis intervention, case management, treatment planning, and collaboration with treatment teams to ensure quality care for individuals with mental health and/or substance use issues.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Counseling or Social Work required.
  • Missouri LPC or LCSW license required; exceptions may be approved by CFO/VPO prior to hire.
  • 2+ years of experience for master’s level and 3+ years of experience for those without a master’s degree but substance abuse certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapy to assigned caseload with a minimum of 26 hours of billable service weekly (5.2 hours per day).
  • Document all clinical activities in the EMR within 48 hours of service.
  • Develop and review treatment plans as required by program.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate service delivery.
  • Follow ethical/agency standards, QA/QI procedures, and UM/program outcomes.
  • Coordinate and monitor group counseling and group education activities.

Job Summary:

In accordance with agency Mission, Vision, Values and Goals, the Counselor/Therapist, provides ongoing individual and group counseling to assigned population and also provides group education as requested. The Counselor/Therapist generates documentation reflecting clinical necessity which meets program and agency standards. The Counselor/Therapist interacts regularly with other staff and treatment providers to provide quality care to individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse issues. Counselors/Therapists may also provide crisis intervention, case management, treatment planning and reviews and psycho-social assessments.

Essential Job Functions:
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
  • Provides therapy to assigned caseload of clients-. Will provide a minimum of 26 hours of billable service weekly (5.2 hours per day). Therapy services may include: case management individual, family and group services assigned.

  • Appropriately documents all clinical/program activities according to quality standards. All documentation must be in the electronic medical record within 48 hours of providing the service.

  • Conducts treatment planning and treatment plan reviews for assigned clients in a clinically appropriate and timely fashion as determined by program requirements.

  • Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings in order to coordinate service delivery to clients.

  • Participates in and meets ethical/agency standard regarding all treatment and documentation practices, Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement procedures, and Utilization Management and program/client outcomes.

  • Coordinates and monitors group counseling and group education activities on behalf of program participants as assigned.

  • Follow all agency policies and procedures including emergency and corporate compliance policies/Procedures 100% of the time.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
  • Will complete initial assessments as back up and/or as assigned.

  • Will provide crisis intervention services as needed and/or contact the Crisis Department for assistance.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education Qualifications:
Education:
  • Outpatient Department — all therapists must have a Master’s Degree in Counseling or Social Work.

  • Addiction Recovery — Master’s degree in Counseling or Social work is preferred but not required if individual holds certifications.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience for master’s level and a minimum of 3 years of experience for those without a master’s degree but substance abuse certification.

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:
  • Outpatient Department— must hold a current Missouri License: LPC or LCSW. Those without a license must receive prior approve from CFO and VPO prior to hire.

  • Addiction Recovery — must be recognized, registered, certified or licensed.

Requirements for Position:
  • Outpatient: Licensed professionals must obtain CEU’s as outlined by board requirements. Non-licensed professionals must obtain 36 CEU’s over a 2 year period.

  • Addiction Recovery: Minimum of 36 hours, over a 2-year period, of professional development specifically related to addiction recovery, chemical dependency, or courses recommended by the Missouri Substance Abuse Counselors Certification Board.

  • Cultural competence training: All provides must obtain a minimum of 6 period, of professional development in the area of cultural competence.

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation: Providers must maintain current CPR 4. Non-violent Crisis Intervention: Providers must maintain current NVCI

DEGREE OF SUPERVISION
  • Licensed Professional:

Weekly supervision with Outpatient Director or other licensed professional for one (1) month following hire; and monthly supervision thereafter for the duration of the provider’s probationary period

  • Substance Abuse Counselors:

Will meet as needed for individual supervision weekly in group supervision. Any clinical documents needing additional signatures will be reviewed in weekly treatment team meetings by qualified staff.

Employment Requirements:
  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect and fingerprint check.

  • Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.

  • All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.

  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.

Physical Requirements:

ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up the 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shift.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
