Job summary

Pilgrim’s is seeking a Protein Conversion- Maintenance Mechanic to support our production operations. The role involves maintaining equipment at the Protein Conversion facility, performing preventative maintenance, and collaborating with a proactive maintenance team.

Candidates should have mechanical, welding, and electrical knowledge, be able to lift 85 lbs, and work in varying temperatures. Some travel and potential shift work may be required; background checks will be conducted.

Qualifications

  • Ability to comprehend simple instructions.
  • Skills in mechanics, welding, and electrical fields is preferred.
  • Ability to apply common sense.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work in cool temperatures (around 40 degrees).
  • Stand and use hands for 8-11 hours per day.
  • Ability to multitask and work quickly.
  • Must be a team player and willing to work close to others at some stations.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Good hand and eye coordination.
  • Food or production experience preferred.

Position Summary:

The individual selected for this position will assume all duties of Maintenance Mechanic at our Protein Conversion facility.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Must be able to work well with others, communication with others, and have good decision-making ability.
  2. Desire to be part of a proactive, motivated maintenance team.
  3. Individual will be responsible for the operation and upkeep of machines in the Maintenance Dept.
  4. Individual will be trained to do other jobs in the department.
  5. Must be able to lift 85 lbs. and be able to work at high heights.
  6. Must be able to do administrative duties and records, ie (P.M’s, logs, etc.)
  7. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures and humidity.
  8. Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and possibly have to work different shifts (day, evening, or night).
  9. Must be willing to travel to other locations for projects.
  10. Must be willing to get pipe certification in welding.
  11. Prefer at least two years’ experience. Must complete a successful background check.
  12. Other duties as directed.
Basic Skills and Qualifications:
