Job summary

Mr Greens Produce is seeking a Protein Buyer at our Hallandale Beach distribution facility in Florida. You will source and purchase meat, poultry, and seafood to support daily operations, negotiating with suppliers to secure favorable terms and maintaining strong vendor relationships.

The role requires 4+ years in purchasing within the food industry, proficiency in Excel and ERP systems, and the ability to manage perishable inventory in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in purchasing, buying, or procurement (food industry preferred).
• Knowledge of protein products (meat, seafood, poultry) is highly preferred.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment handling perishable products.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Source and purchase protein products based on company needs and demand forecasts.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
• Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and product availability.
• Coordinate with sales and operations teams to align purchasing with customer demand.
• Ensure product quality, food safety, and compliance with company standards.
• Manage inventory levels to minimize waste and shortages.
• Resolve supply issues, shortages, or quality concerns in a timely manner.
• Track and analyze purchasing data, margins, and performance metrics.

The Protein Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing inventory of protein products, including meat, poultry, and seafood, to support daily distribution operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining product availability, controlling costs, and ensuring product quality in a fast-paced food distribution environment.
