Florida Department of Children and Families is seeking a Child Protective Investigator to conduct investigations of abuse, neglect, and other child welfare concerns. The role requires rapid decision-making, strong communication, and the ability to work in high-stress environments.

The salary is $50,000.08 annually, with eligibility for state benefits in a role designated essential, including night, weekend, and holiday work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 4 years of law enforcement or active military service.
• Or associate degree with 2 years of professional work experience or two years of law enforcement.
• Must obtain Florida Child Protective Investigator Certification within 12 months of hire.

Responsabilités

• Investigate abuse, neglect, abandonment and/or special conditions for children.
• Collect information via interviews with children, parents, relatives, and neighbors.
• Assess danger threats, child vulnerabilities and caregiver protective capacities to determine safety.
• Arrange emergency placement for children unable to safely remain at home.
• Notify state attorney, law enforcement and child protection teams.
• Provide families with linkage to agency and community resources.
• Conduct initial and ongoing danger assessments.
• Report indications of abuse or neglect to the Florida Abuse Hotline.
