Job summary

Delta Electronics Americas seeks a Protection Engineer to design, analyze, and validate protection for microgrids and SST-based power systems. You will coordinate with simulation, HIL, and controls teams to ensure safe operation under normal and faulted conditions.

You will develop protection strategies, perform coordination and fault studies, and document protection philosophies and settings for utility interfaces and downstream systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in power system protection engineering.
• Strong understanding of protection principles (overcurrent, differential, distance, etc.)
• Circuit breaker selection and operation
• Protection coordination methodologies
• Experience performing coordination studies and fault analysis
• Familiarity with microgrid or distribution-level power systems
• Ability to interpret system one-line diagrams and develop protection schemes

Responsibilities

• Design protection schemes for microgrid and SST architectures.
• Define protection philosophy for grid-connected and islanded operation.
• Select protection elements: overcurrent, differential, distance, voltage/frequency.
• Size and specify circuit breakers; define control and trip logic.
• Perform protection coordination and selectivity studies.
• Conduct fault studies and offline/HIL validation.
• Collaborate with simulations, HIL, and controls teams.
• Document protection philosophy and settings.
