Alabama Power is seeking a Protection & Control Field Services Supervisor to lead the P&C FS Support group in the Hueytown area, with alternative offices in Montgomery, Headland, or Mobile. Protection & Control Field Services Supervisor (Support)
The APC Power Delivery Protection & Control (P&C) Field Services department is seeking a Supervisor for the P&C FS Support group. This position is responsible for supervising a team of employees that supports the overall function of the P&C Field Services organization by providing technical guidance, direction, budget oversight, all applicable NERC compliance monitoring, and specific technical training for protection system commissioning and maintenance. The preferred office location is in the Hueytown office, however alternate APC P&C FS regional offices in Montgomery, Headland, or Mobile may be considered. Must be willing to live within a commutable distance to assigned office location. This position will be filled as an exempt level 7.
Provide overall leadership and direction to P&C Field Services Support group

Provide technical guidance and direction for issues related to protection and control
Monitor departmental compliance with PRC-5, CIP, and other applicable NERC standards
Provide oversight of P&C asset management (STOMP) and software application support
Provide resources for Independent Technical Verification (ITV) of Farley work procedures
Provide technical leadership on emerging P&C technologies
Ensure top level customer service is provided to internal and external customers
Support input to applicable Southern Company P&C committees and industry interactions
Provide oversight of P&C FS O&M and Capital budgets
Support the P&C FS Learning Path efforts within the Southern Company Engineering Certification Training program
Coordinate Contractor resource availability as needed
4-year BS Engineering Degree ABET accredited institution (Electrical Preferred) and 4 years transmission P&C field test work experience required OR 2 or 4-year BS/BET Degree in Engineering Technology and 8 years transmission P&C field test work experience required
Eight (8) years of combined experience in P&C Field Services, P&C Substation Design, P&C Applications, TMC Substations Maintenance, or System Operations is highly preferred
Formal performance management/supervisory experience is a plus
Extensive knowledge of protective relays, relaying schemes, and control systems is preferred.
Active Professional Engineers (PE) License is highly preferred
Transmission and distribution protection and control system commissioning and maintenance procedures
Transmission and distribution system operations as related to protection and control issues
Knowledgeable of PRC-5, CIP, and other applicable NERC compliance standards.
Knowledgeable of utility industry trends and new technology
Ability to deal with heavy workloads, multiple tasks, and conflicting demands
Project management - both maintenance and capital
Performance management, ability to deal with adverse people behaviors
