Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) in Boise, ID is seeking an Electrical Design Technician/Design Engineer to create detailed electrical designs for utility and industrial projects, and to develop CAD drawings, schematics, and project documentation. You will support technical leads, mentor drafters, and help drive innovation while delivering high-quality work on time and within budget.

The role requires an Associate's degree and 3+ years HV design experience, with AutoCAD or MicroStation

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in EET, CAD, Drafting, or related field.
  • 3+ years of high-voltage electrical design experience.
  • Experience with protective relay control system projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Understanding of protective relay installation requirements.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Electrical Design Technician / Design Engineer

Required Qualifications

Compensation

Expected hiring range: $67,700 - $98,600 annually, depending on experience, skills, and location.
