Job summary

Relativity Space, based in Mississippi, is seeking a Propulsion Test Technician II to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and support propulsion test systems at Stennis facilities. You will perform routine and moderately complex tasks and collaborate with engineers and technicians.

You will work with fluid systems, sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition, interpreting drawings and procedures, with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• Experience in medium-to-heavy-industrial maintenance or propulsion testing.
• Experience with data acquisition and control systems.
• Associate’s degree in a related mechanical or electrical technical discipline.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, operational checkout, troubleshooting, and maintenance of test stand equipment.
• Fabricate and install fluid system tubing and piping.
• Assemble, install, maintain, and replace instrumentation and sensors.
• Follow engineering procedures and test instructions.
• Diagnose, resolve routine equipment issues.
• Provide day-to-day assistance to less experienced technicians.
• Support modifications to test stands and new facilities.
• Monitor inventory of consumables and tooling.
• Identify equipment conditions requiring corrective maintenance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About The Team

The Stennis Test team designs, builds, and operates Relativity's propulsion and stage test stands. Team members are hands‑on with large-scale, complex systems including fully integrated engines and stage assemblies, pushing hardware to the limits and directly contributing to flight readiness. The work is fast‑paced and highly operational, ideal for those with backgrounds in aviation, automotive, manufacturing, offshore operations, industrial systems, construction, or adjacent industries. You'll work in a close‑knit, dynamic environment where collaboration between technicians, operators, and engineers is not only encouraged, but expected. As the company scales, the Stennis Test team becomes even more critical to unlocking our next phase of growth: proving out full‑stage systems and paving the way for routine, reliable flights of Terran R.

About The Role

As a Propulsion Test Technician II, you will perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational support activities for propulsion test systems and facilities. This role independently completes routine and moderately complex assignments while supporting engine testing, facility modifications, and continuous operation of test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, operational checkout, troubleshooting, and maintenance of test stand equipment and hardware.
• Fabricate, install, troubleshoot, and maintain fluid system tubing, piping, and associated hardware.
• Assemble, install, maintain, and replace instrumentation and sensors used for propulsion test systems.
• Execute work in accordance with engineering procedures, specifications, and test instructions.
• Diagnose and resolve routine equipment and system issues.
• Perform disassembly, inspection, precision cleaning, and reassembly of valves, regulators, and related components.
• Support modifications to existing test stands and construction of new testing facilities.
• Monitor inventory levels for consumables, tooling, and equipment.
• Identify equipment conditions requiring corrective maintenance.
• Provide day‑to‑day assistance to less experienced technicians during routine work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About You

Experience in medium-to-heavy-industrial maintenance, instrumentation, propulsion testing, data acquisition and control systems, avionics hardware, mechanical systems, or related technical work; or an Associate’s degree in a related mechanical or electrical technical discipline.

Ability To

• Perform assigned work with limited supervision.
• Interpret engineering drawings, procedures, and technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot mechanical or instrumentation systems.
• Safely operate fabrication tools and testing equipment.
• Communicate equipment status and maintenance findings.

Mechanical Focus

• Experience installing and maintaining fluid systems and mechanical components.

Instrumentation Focus

• Experience installing and maintaining sensors, instrumentation, and electronic test equipment.

Nice To Haves But Not Required

• Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, or avionics systems.
• Experience fabricating and installing fluid system tubing and hardware.

Successful candidates must clear a background check administered by the US government to obtain clearance for on‑site work at our government partner location in Stennis, Mississippi.
