Job summary

indiGOtech is seeking a hands-on engineer to own and run a portion of our active suspension and traction test systems at our MA facility. You will define test methods, procedures, and tooling while collaborating with motor, electrical, software, and mechanical teams.

You'll build the test end-to-end—test hardware, data acquisition software, and procedures—gaining fluency across electrical, mechanical, and software disciplines. Ownership and startup pace shape this role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years developing data acquisition software and/or hardware.
  • Programming experience in Python (MATLAB or C a plus).
  • Comfort with electromechanical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
  • Familiarity with sensors: rotary encoders, resolvers, temperature/pressure sensors.
  • Experience building tools to visualize and analyze multi-sensor data.
  • A genuine appetite for ambiguity — you're energized, not stressed by "figure it out".
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts and comfort owning a problem without a clear owner.
  • Communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute motor and inverter tests in collaboration with the engineering team.
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the dynamometers and associated test systems.
  • Develop the test procedures and methods as our platform evolves — you'll be writing the playbook, not just following one.
  • Analyze results, report findings, and feed insights back into design.
  • Develop and own data acquisition software.
  • Spec and implement hardware/electrical upgrades to test systems as needs change.
  • Troubleshoot issues across hardware, electrical, and software — often solo, often on the fly.
  • Keep accurate records of test parameters, configurations, and results.
  • Collaborate daily with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
  • Provide technical support to other teams as new needs come up.
  • Adapt quickly as priorities shift — startup pace means the job will change under you, and that's the point.

Job description

indiGOtech is reinventing vehicle architecture with our SmartWheels™ technology that integrates propulsion and active suspension directly into each wheel. This enables a whole new class of lighter, roomier and more efficient electric vehicles with superior user experience and unit economics.

The propulsion team is looking for a hands-on engineer to own and run a portion of our active suspension and traction test systems. This role comes with a lot of ownership— you'll be defining the test methods, procedures, and tooling as you go, working shoulder-to-shoulder with the motor, electrical, software, and mechanical teams.

This is a great fit for someone who wants outsized responsibility early in their career. You'll own your test systems end-to-end — test hardware, data acquisition software, and procedures — and you'll pick up practical fluency across electrical, mechanical, and software engineering along the way. If you like structure handed to you, this job probably isn't for you. If you like building the structure yourself, you’ll thrive.

What You'll Do
  • Plan and execute motor and inverter tests in collaboration with the engineering team
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the dynamometers and associated test systems
  • Develop the test procedures and methods as our platform evolves — you'll be writing the playbook, not just following one
  • Analyze results, report findings, and feed insights back into design
  • Develop and own data acquisition software
  • Spec and implement hardware/electrical upgrades to test systems as needs change
  • Troubleshoot issues across hardware, electrical, and software — often solo, often on the fly
  • Keep accurate records of test parameters, configurations, and results
  • Collaborate daily with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers
  • Provide technical support to other teams as new needs come up
  • Adapt quickly as priorities shift — startup pace means the job will change under you, and that's the point
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years developing data acquisition software and/or hardware
  • Programming experience in Python (MATLAB or C a plus)
  • Comfort with electromechanical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.)
  • Familiarity with sensors: rotary encoders, resolvers, temperature/pressure sensors
  • Experience building tools to visualize and analyze multi-sensor data
  • A genuine appetite for ambiguity — you're energized, not stressed by "figure it out"
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts and comfort owning a problem without a clear owner
  • Communication and documentation skills
Nice to Have
  • Knowledge of electric motor control/commutation (three-phase or axial flux)
  • Familiarity with automotive or electric motor testing standards
  • High-voltage power supply and safety experience
  • Prior dynamometer experience (electric motor or combustion)
  • Experience with Perception DAQ Software (HBK)
Why This Role
  • Ownership from day one — you won't be one of ten engineers on a mature test bench, you'll be building it
  • Breadth and variety of challenges — expect to touch mechanical, electrical, and software problems in the same week
  • Growth trajectory — early hires who thrive on this kind of scope tend to grow into broader technical leadership fast
