Job summary

Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing Company, seeks an experienced technician to perform orbital tube welding and propulsionassembly tasks onsite in a high-reliability aerospace environment. You will interpret drawings, assemble and test subassemblies, and visually inspect components per established procedures.

The role requires use of various hand and power tools, adherence to safety and quality standards, and potential travel to support programs.

Qualifications

  • Interpret drawings, schematics, harness wiring diagrams and specifications.
  • Experience with hand tools and power tools.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform orbital tube welding for fabrication of tube subassemblies and propulsion tank closeouts.
  • Assemble, install, test, route/terminate/stake/wrap thermistors and heaters on spacecrafts per drawings and procedures.
  • Visually inspect propulsion assemblies against drawings and specs; ensure conformance to procedures.
  • Operate forklifts, cranes, aerial lifts and other GSE as required; travel may be needed to support programs.

Company Overview

Millennium Space Systems, a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), is a fast, agile small satellite company focused on national security space. Our missions have direct impact to global security, such as missile warning and Earth observation.

Position Responsibilities
  • Perform orbital tube welding for the fabrication of tube subassemblies and final propulsion tank closeouts.
  • Assemble, install, test, route/terminate/stake/wrap thermistors, heaters, non‑flight thermocouples and heaters on spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications, and written assembly, integration, and test procedures.
  • Visually inspect propulsion assemblies against drawings, engineering specifications, and written assembly and test procedures.
  • Operate various materials handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lift equipment, flight vehicle and sub‑assembly transportation equipment, truck/tractor trailer combinations and other GSE as required.
  • Travel may be required to support operations identified by supported programs.
  • Capable of operating a wide range of tools, including but not limited to orbital tube welding machines, tack welding machines, drill press, grinders, power and hand tools.
  • Interface and/or work closely with Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Procurement and Shipping personnel on procedural issuers involving design, methods, tooling, cost, and other quality control areas.
  • Support in areas defined by Millennium Space Systems Leadership as business needs require.
  • Crosstrain/mentor new hires.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements
  • Export Control compliance requires a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15, including US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in propulsion assembly on high reliability products, preferably aerospace.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, harness wiring diagrams, internal and external specifications.
  • Experience with various hand tools and power tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of aerospace experience.
  • 5+ years of orbital tube welding experience.
  • 2+ years performing thermal system component installation in aerospace.
  • 2+ years of harness assembly and routing.

  • This is a union‑represented position.
  • This is an hourly position governed by the Cabinet Makers, Millmen and Industrial Carpenters Union (CMM&IC Local 721).
  • The selected candidate must be able to work any shift as assigned.
  • New hires and employees transferring from non‑union roles may be required to attend or complete training within their 90‑day probationary period; continued employment is contingent on successful completion.
Shift

This role is primarily second shift; however, there may be additional shift requirements to support program objectives.

Pay is based on candidate experience, qualifications, market and business considerations. Summary pay range: Grade 24: $29.42 – $47.09.

Millennium is DDTC‑registered, ITAR‑compliant. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and eligible for a security clearance, and be willing to apply for and maintain a security clearance.

Location

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Security Clearance

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance post‑start is required.
