Job summary

iRocket is seeking a Propulsion Engineer to join the propulsion team in Hauppauge, NY. You will contribute to design, development, testing, and qualification of propulsion systems for our small launch vehicles, working with integration, test, design, and manufacturing teams to move systems from concept to flight readiness.

Qualifications

  • Requires a degree in engineering and hands-on propulsion testing experience.
  • Familiarity with liquid or hybrid rocket systems, coolant flows, and heat transfer.
  • Experience with instrumentation, sensors, data acquisition, and control systems.
  • Ability to read drawings, P&IDs and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Support design, development, and testing of propulsion systems for launch vehicles.
  • Participate in test campaigns including planning, instrumentation, and post-test analysis.
  • Develop test procedures, control sequences, and configuration files for propulsion testing.
  • Troubleshoot propulsion subsystems during testing and integration.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, controls, electronics, and systems teams.
  • Perform sizing, performance prediction, and optimization calculations/simulations.
  • Support Test Readiness Reviews, Failure Review Boards, and design reviews.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements for test efficiency, safety, and reliability.
  • Analyze test data, generate reports, and identify corrective actions.
