Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, California is seeking a Propulsion Analyst Intern to support the Propulsion team by creating FEA and CFD models and analyzing rocket engine hardware.

You will work with mentors in a fast-paced, cross-disciplinary group, attend regular 1:1s, participate in tech talks, and gain hands-on experience delivering real hardware insights for Archimedes engines. This 12-week on-site internship starts May or June 2027.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate degree program and have at least one semester remaining post internship
• GPA of 3.0 or above
• 3+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, lab, or project work)

Responsibilities

• Work with mentors and teammates to apply engineering concepts and grow technically.
• Support the propulsion team by developing and analyzing FE/CFD models for rocket hardware.
• Attend regular 1:1s with mentors to discuss progress and learning.
• Engage in tech talks and network with interns and staff to share insights.

As a PropulsionAnalystIntern based at Rocket Lab’s site in Long Beach, California, you will have the opportunity to support thePropulsionteamincreatingFEAmodelsor CFD modelsof new and updated designsas well as gain hands experienceanalyzing critical rocket engine hardware.You will join a multidisciplinary propulsion team responsible for designing and testing ourArchimedesrocket engine.

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s, master's or doctorate degree program in an engineering, physics or math discipline and have at least one semester of school remaining post internship
• GPA of 3.0 or above
• 3+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, and personal/team project experience is applicable)

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE

• GPA of 3.5 or above
• 6+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, and personal/team project experience is applicable)
• Experience inPython, ANSYS, Simens NX,MATLAB,andSolidworks
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA)experience
• Proficient in CAD/CAM
• Knowledge of heat transfer,cryogenicsand superficial fluid behavior

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Able to work full-time, on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning May or June 2027

COMPENSATION AND OTHER BENEFITS

• Pay Range CA: $28.00 USD Hourly
• You may be eligible for a stipend to subsidize relocation costs
• Level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
