Job summary

Veo is seeking a Proposal Writer to lead content development for city and university RFPs and permit applications from our Santa Monica HQ. You will synthesize information from Policy & Partnerships, Product, Finance, Operations, and Engineering into persuasive narratives that support market-entry priorities.

The role suits an experienced writer or content strategist with storytelling talent and a background in competitive sales or marketing. A passion for sustainable transportation is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in proposal development, permit or grant writing, content creation, editing, or related fields such as sales/marketing, journalism, or report/technical writing.
• Exceptional writing, editing, verbal communication, and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style for diverse audiences—including public agencies, universities, and business stakeholders—and translate complex technical information into persuasive and accessible content.
• A sharp eye for detail and a commitment to producing error‑free, high‑quality work under tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of public sector procurement, regulations, or urban planning is an advantage but not required.
• Proficiency in content strategy development, aligning messaging with brand goals and audience needs.
• Graphic design experience and/or familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite/InDesign is a plus.
• Bachelor’s Degree expected; a Master’s degree in a related subject may substitute for two years of work experience.
• A passion for sustainable transportation, biking, and scooters.

About the Role

As we expand our micromobility programs, Veo regularly responds to City and University Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and permit applications. As a Proposal Writer you will work within the Policy and Partnerships team and manage all aspects of proposal writing—leading the development of compelling content, crafting submission documents, and synthesizing complex information from Veo’s Senior Leadership, Product, Public Policy, and Operations teams into persuasive narratives that support Veo’s market‑entry priorities. This role is ideal for an experienced writer, editor, or content strategist with a talent for storytelling and a background in competitive sales or marketing. An interest in sustainable transportation and building safe, orderly, and accessible shared mobility systems is a plus.

This position requires four days a week in the office at our headquarters in Santa Monica, CA.

Responsibilities for the Role

• RFP and Market Entry Support
  • Work alongside other Market Entry staff to lead the development and submission of proposals for RFP and permit applications that are compliant, professionally produced, and delivered on time.
  • Perform detailed analysis of RFQ/RFP/permit documents and supplementary content to enrich our offerings and ensure our content is tailored to each local context.
  • Write high‑quality, creative, and responsive content for proposals.
  • Coordinate and review/edit proposal input from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from Veo’s Policy and Partnerships, Product, Finance, Operations, and Engineering departments.
  • Track proposal success rates, analyze feedback, and implement continuous improvements to enhance proposal effectiveness.
  • Work closely with the Design team to coordinate the production of high‑quality visuals and graphics that improve communication.
  • Analyze relevant trends, technologies, and city policy priorities to develop new initiatives that tailor Veo’s product offering to priority markets.

What we are looking for (Requirements for the role)

Compensation and Benefits

• Competitive Compensation Package: base salary range of $80,000 - $95,000, plus annual performance bonus and equity (stock options). Total compensation, including bonus potential, ranges from $80,000 - $100,000 depending on geographic cost of labor and other factors.
