Job summary

LJA Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Proposal Coordinator II to independently manage complex proposals and qualifications packages within our Marketing team. You will serve as a key resource to technical staff and project managers, contributing to pursuit strategy, messaging, and process improvements.

You will participate in pursuit planning and debriefs to better understand client needs, competitive positioning, and business development strategy, helping shape winning submissions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism or related field is required.
• 3+ years of proposal experience, preferably in AEC industry.
• Advanced Adobe InDesign proficiency.
• Strong technical editing and content development skills.
• Excellent project management and communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Manage RFQs, RFPs, SOQs, and interview presentations from kickoff through submission independently.
• Develop proposal schedules and manage internal review cycles.
• Lead kickoff meetings for routine pursuits.
• Interpret solicitation requirements and develop detailed compliance plans.
• Write and edit executive summaries, cover letters, project descriptions, and key proposal content.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and subconsultant partners.
• Ensure proposal quality, compliance, and brand consistency.
• Recommend pursuit messaging and differentiators.
• Mentor Proposal Coordinator I staff and assist with onboarding and training.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and content development.
• Support workload planning and pursuit prioritization.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Proposal Coordinator II at LJA in our Marketing department, you will be responsible for independently managing complex proposals and qualifications packages while serving as a key resource to technical staff and project managers. This role demonstrates advanced proposal development capabilities and begins contributing to pursuit strategy, messaging, and process improvement efforts. Participating in pursuit planning and proposal debrief discussions to build understanding of business development strategy, client needs, and competitive positioning.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field
