- Serve as a strategic partner and provide professional advice to management on tax and tax law matters
- Direct end-to-end compliance for multi-jurisdictional real and personal property tax assets
- Ensure precision in material filings, payment processing, and PTMS and enterprise ERP system management
- Evaluate industrial property assessments and lead property tax audits
- Negotiate with taxing authorities to secure favorable appeal outcomes
- Oversee property tax accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, budgeting, and financial forecasting
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and pursue economic development incentives
- Mentor, train, and review property tax staff and offshore Shared Services partners
- Establish performance standards, enforce data integrity, and streamline workflows
- Manage relationships with taxing jurisdictions, assessment officials, and third-party consultants
- Align regional Tax operations with Group and Regional Tax specialists
- Provide commercial and technical tax advice and manage tax risk
- Support investment papers with tax expertise
- Collaborate with Group tax teams on cross-regional tax issues
- Oversee tax accounting, compliance, and audits
- Review and support transfer pricing documentation
- Lead tax transformation initiatives and transfer transactional tax activities to Finance GBS
- Optimize tax processes through digitalization
- Ensure adequate industrial risk coverage through appropriate insurance programs
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- 3+ years of tax management experience
- Prior experience managing direct reports or technical team members
- 10+ years of direct, hands-on property tax experience managing large-scale, complex multi-state corporate portfolios
- In-depth knowledge of state and local tax statutes across multi-jurisdictional landscapes
- Ability to conduct legal and tax research and interpret changing regulations
- Strong background in personal and real property valuation methodologies for complex industrial, manufacturing, chemical, or process plant assets
- Superior negotiation skills and track record advocating before assessment boards, tax commissioners, and local authorities
- Willingness to work 3 days per week in the Houston, TX office
- Willingness to travel up to 20% on average
- Must have valid U.S. work authorization without requiring current or future visa sponsorship
- Advanced capabilities handling, analyzing, and auditing large volumes of fixed asset data
- Expert-level skill with PTMS, advanced spreadsheets, and SAP/Oracle enterprise ERP data structures
- Experience leveraging AI tools, intelligent automation, and modern technology workflows is preferred
- Master's degree in Accounting, Tax, or Business Administration is preferred
