Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) is seeking an entry-level Housing Support Specialist to assist the housing management team in administering rental assistance programs for low-income clients in Alaska.

Position Summary: Responsible for assisting the housing management team in the overall management of low-income housing. This is a direct facing client support position.
Reports to: Program/Regional Manager or Designee
OVERVIEW
This position works collaboratively within a dynamic team environment to ensure Alaskans have access to safe, quality, and affordable housing. This role requires sound analytical abilities to assess and evaluate problems, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple standards related to the Voucher and AHFC Public Housing programs. The incumbent must possess the ability to effectively listen and communicate with a diverse range of individuals, demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Non-exempt, non-supervisory position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: Proficiency in b usiness English and math; professional communication skills; effective office practices and procedures, sound interpersonal relationship concepts. Basic property management concepts and practices.
Skills in : Organizing data and maintaining files efficiently; fundamental understanding of affordable housing regulations; competence in implementing and following procedures; making mathematical computations; selecting and and applying guidelines and procedures; basic interviewing techniques; and operate a personal computer and relevant software.
Ability to : Comprehend and interpret written materials, perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision; establish and maintain effective working relationships; ability to navigate regulatory and policy handbooks governing housing programs; convey information clearly and accurately, both orally and in writing form to a diverse group of individuals; complete all required training to enhance professional competencies.
Minimum Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED and one years’ experience in general office practices or property management, or a combination of the two. Office experience to include clerical duties such as typing, filing, copying and computer experience (Word, Outlook, and Excel preferred).
Must have valid Alaska Driver’s license (or be able to obtain one within 5 calendar days of beginning employment) and show proof of good driving record, when requested.
