Job summary

Target is seeking a Property Management Lead to oversee building assets, safety programs, and vendor partnerships while ensuring a high-standard guest experience across our stores.

You will coordinate preventive maintenance, lead a team, and drive cost-effective operations that align with Target’s standards for asset care and safety, including working with HVAC, electrical, plumbing and other systems.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ years of technical education in electrical, mechanical, carpentry, HVAC or plumbing preferred.
  • Experience with building assets and preventive maintenance is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver guest experience commitments and keep operations smooth.
  • Lead and train store team on safety and asset care.
  • Monitor metrics and coordinate with vendors to meet maintenance standards.
  • Prioritize and assign work orders with store leadership guidance.
  • Ensure safety guidelines and PPE usage are followed.

The starting pay range for this position per hour is $25.00 - $27.00. The full pay range for this position per hour is $25.00 - $42.50

Property Management supports a profitable business by ensuring that assets are well-maintained and functional, and services are completed on time while minimizing vendor cost. Property Management (PM) maintains physical assets and mitigates excess spending to ensure that our store teams can focus on serving our guests without distraction. PM also supports remodel efforts, executes new project sets and enables efficient front of store and backroom operations to delight our guests.

  • Identifying and safely executing preventive and corrective maintenance on all building assets and equipment
  • Completing work within compliance standards and Target guidelines
  • Working with vendors and influencing timely completion of their work
  • Influencing store team to ensure project work aligns with PM priorities and financial goals
  • Working with Plumbing, HVAC, Refrigeration, Life Safety Power Systems and Electrical equipment
  • Understanding repair versus replace and managing cost
As a Property Management Lead No Two Days Are Ever The Same, But a Typical Day Will Most Likely Include The Following Responsibilities:
  • Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience.
  • Ensures every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers on Target’s guest experience commitments and consistent operations.
  • Actively observes and provides feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments.
  • Reviews area guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, takes action to improve, and aligns team on the right behaviors and execution, celebrates wins, drives results that deliver outcomes and elevates the guest experience.
  • Utilize technology (e.g. Mobile Device, AI) to create, troubleshoot, prioritize, and safely complete work orders.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on building assets and equipment, including Plumbing, HVAC, Refrigeration, Life Safety Power Systems and Electrical.
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures and training, use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure a safe work environment by identifying and correcting equipment safety hazards.
  • Teach and train store team to follow safety procedures.
  • Identify and perform corrective maintenance on building assets.
  • Inform and engage the store leadership team (including new leaders) on property management workload priorities, and share impacts of store processes on asset care, maintenance and functionality.
  • Lead and demonstrate a culture of executing all best practices as outlined within team onboarding and learning; help close skill gaps through development, coaching and team interactions.
  • With Property Management Business Partner guidance, evaluate store brand and ensure assets and vendor performance meets maintenance and functionality standards.
  • Assist in executing special projects, remodels and support PM assets and service strategies in partnership with store team.
  • Ensure internal and external work orders are completed safely and efficiently; vendors are accountable to do the same for work orders assigned/routed to them.
  • Assist in managing emergency situations as needed in partnership with store and field leaders.
  • Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful, and creating equitable experiences.
  • All other duties based on business needs.

The Good News Is That We Have Some Amazing Training That Will Help Teach You Everything You Need To Know To Be a Property Management Lead. But, There Are a Few Skills You Should Have From The Get-go:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 1+ years of technical education preferred in some of the following areas: electrical, mechanical, carpentry, HVAC or plumbing and/or experience working in any of the following areas: basic door repair, HVAC filter changing, carpentry, power equipment/mechanical repair and basic equipment troubleshooting
  • Basic technical skills and general experience working with property assets required
  • Proficiency in operating power tools, HVAC, wet/dry vacuum and other powered equipment
  • Strong skills in managing vendor relationships, ensuring accountability, and achieving quality service results
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to use technology and multiple communication devices
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently and provide support to store team
  • Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes

  • Although the role is full-time, it does not come with a guarantee of 40 hours each week. Hours will depend on the needs of the business and may fluctuate as required
  • Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)
