Job summary

For Garden’s Sake, a family-owned garden center and landscaping company in operation since 1999, is seeking an experienced Property Maintenance Technician to maintain buildings and property, with emphasis on problem-solving, multitasking, and proactive attitude. This role is full-time year-round in North Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Property maintenance, repair, and improvement of office and retail spaces, landscapes, and ponds.
• Diagnose and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, water, and other building systems; coordinate with vendors when needed.
• Maintain walkways, drives, porches, and pedestrian paths; irrigation system maintenance and repair.
• Set up for events; obtain and coordinate subcontractors for outside repairs.
• Daily task reporting to management; respond to emergencies as needed.

THE POSITION:

We are seeking an experienced Property Maintenance Technician to provide the handyman and construction skills necessary to maintain our buildings and property. This role requires excellent problem-solving, multitasking, and communication skills and the drive to be proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable.

This is a full-time year-round position, paying $23 to start, with weekly pay. Work days start between 7:30-8:30am. Work week is generally Monday through Friday and averages 40 hours, with paid overtime opportunities; schedule may vary slightly based on seasonal demands and operational needs, including occasional weekend responsibilities to support special events and peak business periods.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Overall property maintenance, repair, and improvement to office and retail spaces, landscapes and ponds
• Diagnose and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, water, and other building systems and work with outside vendors when needed
• Routine maintenance of walkways, drives, porches, and pedestrian paths
• Irrigation system maintenance and repair
• Set up and tear down for events and room rentals
• Obtain and coordinate subcontractors for outside repairs and projects
• Property trash and disposal maintenance (litter pickup, dumpster compaction, excess pot and pallet disposal, etc.)
• Animal care and husbandry (feed procurement, housing upkeep and maintenance, seasonal preparations, and general animal welfare)
• Necessary weed control utilizing manual and chemical methods
• Heavy equipment usage for grading and excavation purposes
• Supplemental equipment maintenance and upkeep to support mechanic
• Periodic material procurement for mechanic and landscape and maintenance teams
• Respond to emergency issues as needed
• Daily correspondence of task completion to relative management

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have a valid driver’s license with no major MVR infractions
• Ability to use hand and power tools, along with large and small machinery/equipment
• Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform outdoor work in all weather conditions
• Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills
• Basic knowledge of plants and vegetation (preferred)
• Vocational or trade school certification (preferred)
