Job summary

The Town of Ludlow is seeking a qualified Assessor to inform property owners about assessment policies, determine valuations, and manage exemptions and abatements. You will maintain property records, review supporting documents, and communicate decisions to applicants.

The role requires an Associate’s degree in business administration or related field, plus two years of experience, a MA Driver’s License, and completion of the Associate Assessor Certification within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in business administration or a related field plus two years of general business experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience are required.

Responsibilities

• Provides information to property owners and the public regarding assessment policies and exemptions.
• Assists with processing of applications for abatements and exemptions and communicates decisions.
• Enters and maintains data daily related to property records, plans, and deeds.
• Reviews field inspections and prepares sketches of buildings and property improvements.
• Prepares annual budget for the Assessor’s Office and submits it to Town Accountant.
• Trains and supervises employees and attends Board of Assessors meetings.
