Property Accounting Controller

Location: Tampa, FL

Position Type: Full-Time

Overview

The Property Accounting Controller manages the monthly close of all property financials and oversees the day-to-day operations of the property accounting team. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with policies and leases, and provides insights to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor the property accounting team.
  • Manage month-end close, including accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and review property cash flows, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with lease agreements, company policies, and financial reporting standards.
  • Present property financial reports and recommendations to leadership.
  • Support budget preparation, reforecasting, and SEC filings (Form 10-K and 10-Q).
  • Collaborate across departments and participate in special projects.
  • Oversee tax collection, payments, and reporting.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in property accounting for commercial real estate.
  • Strong experience with Yardi Voyager.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail, integrity, and professionalism.
