POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

Our Projects Lead on our Energy Engineering Management teamoffers the opportunity to deepen your technical expertise, strengthen your project management skills, and contribute to the successful design of our EPC renewable energy projects.

Working alongside the Engineering Manager, Internal Closing Team, and Subject Matter Experts, you will help coordinate the design process and connect engineering decisions with construction needs. You will co-manage Project Engineers and support daily coordination between Operations Teams and Engineers of Record (EORs).

This full-time, salaried role is well suited to someone with a few years of relevant experience who is looking to build a long-term career while taking on greater responsibility. Through hands-on project coordination, technical problem-solving, and mentoring others, you will build experience relevant to future engineering and project management leadership opportunities.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform primary day-to-day coordination of utility-scale solar project designs, including layout, civil, structural, and electrical plans.
  • Apply an understanding of solar power plant design principles, including PV string sizing, DC and AC conductor and conduit sizing, and racking/tracker design and powering to Construction methodology.
  • Review and coordinate the completion of solar power plant electrical and structural design studies.
  • Spearhead permit efforts with Engineer of Record to ensure timely mobilization of project.
  • Assist site construction teams at the time of project mobilization to ensure civil design is ready and sufficient for road installation, erosion and stormwater control, and grading activities.
  • Travel to project sites across the country to connect with construction teams, understand field conditions, and provide technical support.
  • Review and coordinate substation designs from medium-voltage systems, typically 34.5 kV, to the point of interconnection.
  • Organize and draft engineering-related requests for information (RFIs), partnering with preconstruction and operations colleagues to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Apply relevant experience with solar and battery storage equipment, including solar panels, inverters/transformers, racking systems, and battery systems.
  • Support coordination and review of solar plant supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) requirements and designs.
  • Develop, review, and approve engineering scope of work documents for external engineering partners.
  • Help guide Project Engineers through daily design coordination, sharing knowledge and supporting their development while strengthening your own leadership skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a technical field, or a related discipline is required.
  • 3+ years of experience in the renewable energy/solar construction industry or direct engineering management on solar construction projects. Solar experience is required.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or training less-experienced engineers, with an interest in continuing to develop team leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with utility-scale solar design documents and the practical application of engineering designs in construction.
  • Knowledge of electrical design, materials, and construction methods in power systems, with a background in solar electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical and system studies, civil design fundamentals, solar plant SCADA requirements, and solar and battery storage equipment.
  • Experience reviewing and coordinating substation designs.
  • Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) as they relate to utility-scale power plants is a plus.
  • Clear communication and presentation skills, including the ability to organize and explain complex technical information using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects.
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and a positive attitude when working with the Moss team and project partners.
