Job summary

Veolia is seeking a Project Engineering intern to support mechanical and process design for water and wastewater treatment systems. You will collaborate with a cross-functional engineering team on custom project designs, ensuring customer expectations, quality, schedule and budget adherence.

Responsibilities

• Assist with sizing, specification, procurement, fabrication, installation and operation of project equipment (pumps, valves, tanks, instrumentation).
• Perform engineering/hydraulic calculations under supervision.
• Review drawings (P&IDs, PFDs, equipment, facilities).
• Ensure documentation is accurate and consistent across engineering deliverables.
• Support project design reviews and issue resolution related to design and construction.

Job Description

What your day might look like:

• The Project Engineering intern participates in the mechanical and processdesign of water and wastewater treatment systems.
• As part of the Project Engineering team, you will work with across-functional engineering team executing custom project designs,meeting customer expectations, quality, schedule and budget goals, andensuring project risks are mitigated.
• You will work on projects from the initial concept phase, through detailedengineering design, equipment manufacture, and installation at customersites.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Providing technical support for activities involved in the sizing, specification,procurement, fabrication, installation and operation of specified projectrelated equipment and designs including pumps, blowers, valves, tanks andinstrumentation
• Completion of engineering and hydraulic calculations as required under theguidance of an experienced Project Engineer
• Back-checking of drawings (P&IDs, PFDs, Equipment and Facility)
• Validating that all engineering designs, bills of materials, drawings andtechnical data are completely and accurately documented and consistent byreviewing associated engineering documentation
• Providing technical support to activities involved in the specification,procurement, fabrication, installation and operation of specified project
• Participating in project process and mechanical design review meetings
• Assisting with project issue resolution related to design, construction andstart-up
• Engaging with the extended project team (Project Manager, DesignDrafting, Electrical & Instrumentation, and Controls Engineers, Sourcing,QA/QC, Manufacturing, and Commissioning) and equipment suppliers asnecessary to facilitate the design and execution of the project

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled ina Bachelor of Science orEngineering degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, orother related technical discipline
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good technical writing and oral communication skills
• Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team and departmentprojects
• Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks at hand
• Strong mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and safety procedures isa plus
• Full-time availability for Summer 2027

Compensation:

• The compensation range is tied to the market for similarly bench-marked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate's knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $21.32$24.21 USD
