Job summary

Langan in New York City seeks a Project Traffic Engineer / Project Manager to lead traffic and transportation studies, pedestrian safety analyses, and delivery logistics on multiple projects. You will manage scope, budgets, and schedules while coordinating with clients, staff, and external firms.

The role requires a PE license or within six months, 6+ years of experience, and proficiency with HCS, SYNCHRO, MUTCD, AutoCAD, and MicroStation; strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer licensure or should obtain one within six months of joining.
  • 6+ years of experience in traffic capacity analyses, intersection, and traffic signal design.
  • Familiarity with NYC regulatory environment for Traffic and Infrastructure projects including CEQR, ULURP, BPP and SCARA.
  • Experience with HCS, SYNCHRO, and the MUTCD is required; Knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform the planning and permitting of traffic/transportation engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects.
  • Manage and deliver on multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines. Prepare progress reports and draft change orders. Prepare draft invoices, project billings, and assist in payment collections.
  • Coordinate and work with staff to determine the feasibility of projects based on the analysis of preliminary data and to prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, and design for projects.
  • Effectively organize, write, and edit draft proposals, reports, and other documents.
  • Participate in the identification and pursuit of new clients, learn to develop additional work within an existing project, and attend business development meetings with new and existing clients.
  • Provide direct oversight and management of junior staff for specific project assignments. Coach, mentor, and motivate staff assigned to Traffic/Transportation projects. Participate in interviewing and hiring staff.
  • Interface effectively and professionally with clients, contractors, subcontractors, staff, project personnel, supervisors, and other office locations/disciplines. Actively participate in internal and external technical presentations and produce written articles for internal and external publications; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Project Traffic Engineer / Project Manager to join its collaborative team in New York City. This individual will serve a key function in managing as well as working on traffic & parking studies, transportation planning studies, pedestrian safety studies, delivery logistics studies and traffic signal/roadway design projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage and deliver on multiple exciting and challenging traffic and transportation projects.

Qualifications

  • Possess valid Professional Engineer licensure or should obtain one within six months of joining;
  • 6+ years of experience in traffic capacity analyses, intersection, and traffic signal design;
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple clients and projects and to develop and manage project budgets;
  • Familiarity with NYC regulatory environment for Traffic and Infrastructure projects including CEQR, ULURP, BPP and SCARA;
  • Experience with HCS, SYNCHRO, and the MUTCD is required; Knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation are a plus;
  • Ability to coach and assist with the management of staff;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment; and
  • Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing; Ability to occasionally travel and participate in field work.

Certain US jurisdictions require Langan to include an estimate of salary or hourly ranges. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm’s annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.

Pay Range

$96,750—$140,000 USD
