Job summary

MSS Fire and Security, LLC is seeking a Project Technician – Fire I in Winston-Salem, NC to install and certify fire safety product lines and guide installations to meet quality and safety standards.

You will add devices to existing systems, perform programming changes, and certify systems after modifications, with regular coordination with customers and contractors. Exposure to physical demands is expected; valid license required.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in commercial/industrial fire alarm systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on lifts and ladders.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation and certification of fire safety product lines.

• Make minor repairs and programming changes as required to keep systems operational and reliable.

• Support emergency service call-outs on a rotational basis.
• Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Two years of experience in commercial/industrial fire alarm systems.
• Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
• Ability to read and interpret technical and parts manuals to diagnose and repair equipment.
• Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to work on lifts and ladders.
• Must possess hand tools.
• Physical Demands: Occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing. Constant standing, walking, reaching and gripping. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to talk and hear. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (maximum solo lift) and constant lifting to 25 lbs., placing this position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC).
• Material Handling: Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. and constant lifting to 25 lbs., placing this position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC).
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
• Must successfully pass a background check & drug test.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.

Work Environment

Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity level, atmospheric conditions, exposure to electrical shock, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working high exposure places.
