Job summary

Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. seeks a seasoned Supplier Quality lead to supervise supplier quality on complex projects, including capability surveys and audits, ensuring alignment with BSQE standards.

You will collaborate with engineering, QA and construction to mitigate supplier risks and drive performance improvements. Ideal candidates bring 8–14 years of related experience, a relevant engineering degree, and certifications.

Project Overview:

Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will represent Bechtel as the supplier's project quality point of contact. You will provide project supplier quality supervision support on a project, including capability surveys, audits and area or shop quality surveillance in accordance with Bechtel Supplier Quality & Expediting Inc. (BSQE) and Project Procedures. #LI-AM3

Major Responsibilities:

• Supervises the administration of Supplier Quality activities related to designated small to medium sized projects where one or more additional Supplier Quality Specialists are required to accomplish the work




• Distributes the work and delegates specific tasks to the Supplier Quality Specialists, performing an integral part of the work as time permits




• Monitors activities of the Area Supplier Quality Specialists through review of shop surveillance reports




• Represents the Supplier Quality department at the project level and is directly involved with project bid clarification and post-award meetings, project reviews, and problems related to supplier quality




• Assists the project team in the development and/or interpretation of technical specifications that fulfills the objectives of the project and customer




• Participates with engineering, quality assurance and construction organizations in development of cross-functional and proactive approach to mitigation of supplier performance issues




• Provides input for process improvements that minimize risk of manufacturing and testing issues on complex commodities




• Performs capability assessment surveys and quality system audits on project behalf and makes recommendations regarding suitability of supplier based upon results of surveys and/or audits




• Participates on project behalf in meetings and teleconferences with suppliers for the purposes of performance improvement, resolution of specific issues and to highlight and address performance trends that indicate potential negative impact to project objectives

Supervisors assigned to an AREA as opposed to a Project are responsible for the following:

• Provides supervision direction and technical support to Supplier Quality Representatives in performance of quality surveillances and supplier evaluation




• Establishes workload distribution for Supplier Quality Representatives




• Coordinates with Project Supplier Quality Supervisors/Project Supplier Quality Representative (PSQS/Project Supplier Quality Representative (PSQR)s) for assignment of Supplier Quality Representatives to manage surveillance assignments

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience with major commodities typically procured for Semiconductor, Datacenter, Battery Manufacturing or Life Science projects; recognized codes and standards (ie FDA/cGPM); and manufacturing methods.




• Background as a lead auditor for conducting supplier quality system audit or capability surveys of a prospective supplier.




• Experienced with quality management programs including ISO9001, IATF16949, AS9100, ISO13485.




• Perform project SQ functions having some degree of complexity, e.g., preparation of detailed inspection plans for use on complete or uniquely designed systems; preparation of full scope man-hour and budget estimates for proposed projects; review of complex technical specifications; or establishment of project corrective action(s) to resolve nonconformances that have a significant impact on project cost/schedule




• Requisite certification as an ANSI/ASME Level II (further to Level I competencies) and performs the following:




• Conduct capability surveys of a prospective supplier




• Participate as an audit team member or technical resource for quality program audits




• Monitor the administrative and technical performance of Third-Party Agency quality surveillance personnel to ensure that Corporate SQ Manual and Procedures and quality surveillance assignment instructions are implemented
