Job description

Full-time Onsite

Build it right, build it safe, and lead the team that makes it happen.

Our Superintendents run the jobsite. They're the leaders who turn plans into finished buildings: on schedule, on budget, and to a standard of quality we're proud to put our name on. If you like owning the field, developing your crews and building strong relationships with subcontractors and owners, we'd like to talk with you.

Who Are We?

Crain Construction is a trusted, well-established commercial general contractor based in Nashville. In more than 90 years of business, we've built thousands of structures throughout Middle Tennessee and the Southeast. We can build almost anything, but we specialize in commercial projects, including ground-up construction, renovations, multi-story hospitality, retail, industrial, healthcare, education and multi-use structures. See more at Crainconstruction.com.

At Crain, we value teamwork, flexibility and transparency. Our mission is build relationships and structures that last a lifetime!

What You'll Do
Lead the Jobsite
  • Build a positive, team-first culture on site, and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, subcontractors and the public
  • Plan and supervise foremen, crews and Assistant Superintendents, deciding construction methods, manpower, materials, equipment and work schedules
  • Inspect the work of subcontractors, suppliers and company crews
Champion Safety
  • Lead the project's safety culture by example and uphold Crain's Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Develop the Site-Specific Safety Program and hold everyone on site accountable to it
  • Run weekly coordination and safety meetings with employees and subcontractors
Drive the Schedule and Plan
  • Partner with Project Manager on overall schedule, and lead look-ahead break-out schedules that keep milestones on track
  • Develop the Construction Program, covering quality control, safety, site layout, temporary utilities, staging, equipment and manpower
Protect Quality and Compliance
  • Know the contract, drawings and specifications inside and out, and flag design issues or code concerns early
  • Secure permits, and coordinate code, fire marshal, utility and third-party inspections
  • Verify that subcontractors meet contract requirements before they start work
Manage Documentation and Cost
  • Complete daily reports, inspections, RFIs, submittals and as-built reviews in Procore
  • Help the PM review subcontractor pay applications and owner requisitions
  • Approve invoices and enter weekly labor time
What You Bring
  • A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field plus 5 years of experience, or a high school diploma plus 8 years of experience in increasingly responsible construction supervisory roles
  • A proven ability to lead crews and coordinate subcontractors on active jobsites
  • A safety-first mindset and a strong eye for quality
  • Experience creating schedules(pull-planning, look-aheads, takt planning), preferably with scheduling software
  • Comfort with construction software (Procore experience is a plus)
What We Offer
  • A comprehensive benefits package, including a 401(k)
  • A vehicle allowance
  • A family-oriented work culture where teamwork comes first
