Job summary

Legrand is looking for a Project Services Intern to join the Electrical Infrastructure Team in West Hartford, CT. You will perform system design, layout, and component design using CAD tools and custom applications. The internship runs May through August 2027 with exposure to cross-functional teams and real project work.

The role emphasizes hands-on CAD work, documentation, and collaboration with project managers and manufacturing to ensure timely support and successful outcomes.

Qualifications

• SOLIDWORKS experience required for design tasks.
• AutoCAD experience is a plus for layout work.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to read mechanical/electrical/architectural drawings and BOMs.
• Basic electrical understanding, NEC, and UL preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and cross-functional teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Main Interface: internal project managers and manufacturing; external customers.
• Prepare manufacturing documentation using SOLIDWORKS.
• Provide technical support to internal customers.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Job Description

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Project Services Intern to join the Electrical Infrastructure Team in West Hartford, CT. The Project Services Intern will perform system design, system layout, and supporting component design using a combination of CAD software and custom applications.

The ideal candidate will be available for a summer internship from May through August 2027.

Responsibilities

Main Activities:

• Main Interface: Internal-Project Managers and Manufacturing; External-Customers.
• Budget: No direct budgetary responsibilities.

Main Job Duties:

• Prepare manufacturing documentation using SOLIDWORKS applications.
• Provide technical support to internal customers.
• Perform other similar and related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education:

• Mechanical or electrical coursework preferred or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

• Three years of coursework with group design projects preferred, but not required.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

• SOLIDWORKS experience required.
• AutoCAD experience is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand drawings (mechanical, electrical, and architectural), as well as bills of material/cut lists.
• Ability to read and understand specifications.
• Basic understanding of electrical principles, NEC code requirements, and UL preferred.
• Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work on a cross-functional team.
