Job summary

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks a civilian project management support professional to aid scheduling, control and execution of assigned projects.

You will help create the Project Management Plan showing scope, baselines, and costs for activities to deliver the project to the local sponsor. You will prepare a range of reports for status reviews, briefings, data validation and information requests, coordinating with the Project Manager, Delivery Team and Sponsor to resolve issues and keep

Qualifications

  • Experience operating automated information systems to manage scheduling or resources.
  • Ability to analyze scheduling issues and recommend schedule/cost changes.
  • Specialized federal experience at or above GS-11 level preferred.

Job description

Duties
  • Perform duties in support of project management, control, coordination and execution of assigned projects.
  • Establish a project task listing required to accomplish execution of the project within cost and time limitations.
  • Assist the Project Manager to create and maintain the Project Management Plan for the project that shows the scope, baseline schedule and cost for each activity needed to deliver the completed project to the local sponsor.
  • Prepare a wide variety of project management reports for upward reporting, monthly project status reviews with customers, monthly Project Review Board briefings, Command Management Review data validation, and other project data calls as required.
  • Meet and coordinate with the Project Manager, the Project Delivery Team and the Local Sponsor to collect and disseminate information about the project schedule and project issues needing resolution.
  • Develop, prepare, and present reports, briefings, summaries and fact sheets obtained from other District elements and local sponsors.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • In accordance with DoDM 8140.03 and supplemental Army guidance, the employee must obtain and maintain the following requirements for each Cyber work role (except Data, AI, and/or Software Engineering) at the assigned proficiency level:
  • 1) Foundational qualification requirements within 9 months, 2) Resident qualification requirements within 12 months, 3) 20hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) per work role code (which can overlap).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes the following: 1) Operating automated information systems to manage scheduling or resources for an organization; AND 2) Analyzing project management scheduling issues as they arise in order to provide recommendations on schedules and/or costs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-12, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
