Job summary

Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, is seeking a Senior Scheduler to build, maintain, analyze, and report schedules with robust metrics and presentations. You will identify anomalies, ensure critical path traceability, and support monthly change control activities to reflect approved changes in baselines and EAC.

This role requires strong communication, expertise in MS Project Server, and advanced Microsoft Office skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's with 3+ years of related experience, or Master's with 1 year, or PhD.
  • Scheduling experience or familiarity with project planning concepts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, analyze, and report schedule concerns, metrics, and schedule products.
  • Identify and communicate anomalies in the schedule data, analyze logic and critical path.
  • Maintain detailed network schedules in MS Project Server and extract data for monthly/quarterly reporting.
  • Support monthly change control board meetings and incorporate approved changes into baselines or EAC.
  • Assist in producing high-level summary schedule reports.
  • Conduct and report 'what-if' schedule scenarios.
  • Learn project knowledge to derive schedule risks and impacts.
  • Work with Lead Scheduler to integrate artifacts into schedule presentation and distill major takeaways.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, analyze, and report schedule concerns, associated metrics, and schedule products.
  • Identify and communicate anomalies in the schedule data, analyze horizontal logic and critical path traceability.
  • Maintain detailed network schedules in MS Project Server including the extraction and analysis of various schedule related data required for monthly/quarterly reporting.
  • Support monthly change control board meetings, and incorporate approved liens (BCRs) into the project baseline or estimate at complete (EAC).
  • Assist in the production of high-level summary schedule reports.
  • Conduct and report \"what-if\" schedule scenarios.
  • Learn technical knowledge about a project to help derive schedule risks and potential negative impacts/opportunities to the project schedule
  • Work with Lead Scheduler on integrating schedule impact artifacts into schedule presentation package and be able to identify and/or present major takeaways from any set of PSA analysis presentation charts
  • Works on critical, often self-initiated, ad-hoc assignments and projects with minimal direction.

Required Qualifications

  • Typically has a bachelor's with a minimum of 3 years of related experience, master's degree with 1 year of experience, or PhD.
  • Some scheduling experience and/or familiar with project planning concepts
  • Resourceful and self-motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong user of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a project team environment with project reporting, integrated cost/schedule planning, earned value management (EVM), and various performance measurement techniques.
  • Experience with cost-schedule baseline change control processes.

Hiring Range

The hiring range displayed below is specifically for those who will work in or reside in the location listed. In extending an offer, Jet Propulsion Laboratory considers factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's job related skills, experience, knowledge, and relevant education/training.


The typical full time equivalent annual hiring range for this job in Pasadena, California.


$85,384 - $100,464
