Job summary

Barton Malow is seeking an experienced Project Safety Professional to lead safety programs on complex construction projects and promote safety excellence across sites. Travel to project locations is required to ensure effective program execution and stakeholder engagement.

The role involves conducting safety meetings, toolbox talks, and incident investigations, with shift work that may include weekends and evenings. A bachelor’s degree in safety and relevant certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of construction safety experience.
• Willing to travel for extended periods to project sites.
• Shift work including weekends and evenings may be required.
• OSHA 30 Hour certification; First Aid, CPR, AED; CHST/OSHA 510 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage project safety standards to exceed customer and Barton Malow requirements.
• Conduct safety meetings and educational programs with labor and management representatives.
• Perform project-specific safety orientations and toolbox talks for all project personnel.
• Assist in controlling hazardous conditions through interface with site personnel and subcontractors.
• Assist with pre-job planning, auditing processes, and provide direct safety feedback.
• Conduct incident investigations and submit reports to safety leadership.

POSITION SUMMARY

Barton Malow is seeking an experienced Project Safety Professional to exceed safety standards, conduct educational programs, ensure a secure working environment on our projects, and leverage their expertise to promote safety excellence. Travel is a must, as this position requires extended travel to project sites for successful execution of responsibilities.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the project safety standards to exceed customer and Barton Malow requirements.
• Conduct safety meetings and educational programs; interface with labor and management representatives to discuss and resolve safety items.
• Conduct project specific safety orientations, Toolbox Talks and all safety related meetings for all employees associated with work on the project.
• Assist in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe activities through interface with site personnel, including all sub-contractors.
• Assist with pre-job planning, auditing the process, and providing direct feedback for improvements.
• Conduct incident investigations and submit reports to safety leadership.
• Participate in incident reviews with project leadership, senior safety leadership, directors, and others as needed.
• Document project safety program; including all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, or another related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of Construction Safety Experience.
• Willing to travel for extended periods of time for project assignments is essential.
• This position requires shift work, which could include weekends and evenings.
• Experience working in one or more of the following environments:
  • Industrial
  • Automotive
  • Energy
  • Data Center
• OSHA 30 Hour certification.
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
• CHST certification is preferred.
• OSHA 510 certification is preferred.
