Job summary

BMWC Constructors in North Carolina is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead our project safety efforts across our industrial construction operations. You will report to the Safety Director and partner with project managers, field teams, and clients to uphold safety programs and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Health and Safety, 7+ years in construction/heavy industry, and strong knowledge of OSHA 500/300, 29 CFRs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Employee Health and Safety or equivalent.
• 7+ years of progressive health and safety experience in construction/heavy industry.
• Knowledge of OSHA 500, OSHA 300, OSHA 10 and NCCER, 29 CFR 1910 and 29 CFR 1926.
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth such as coursework or certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety leadership to project managers and field teams.
• Ensure adherence to safety policies, regulations, and client requirements.
• Train site management and workers in safety practices and accident prevention.
• Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and minimize workers' comp claims.
• Administer and uphold HSE regulations and local drug testing requirements.
• Mentor safety staff and manage training programs.
• Prepare safety presentations and incident reports for clients.

You will be part of a top-performing Safety Department and report to an experiencedexpert in the industry. This position regularly interacts with company leaders, candidates, field staff, and third-party partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Project Safety Manager, you will:

• Provide safety leadership, coaching, and support to project managers and field teams.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety policies, regulations, and client requirements.
• Train location management and workers in safety practices and accident prevention.
• Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Minimize company exposure to incidents, accidents, and workers' compensation claims.
• Prioritize effective time management and communication.
• Serve as a liaison between the company, clients, and regulatory authorities.
• Deliver presentations and reports to clients.
• Administer and uphold HSE regulations and local drug testing requirements.
• Implement corporate and local safety programs and procedures.
• Participate in safety observations, audits, and committees.
• Mentor local safety specialists and manage training programs.
• Maintain records and facilitate incident investigations.
• Analyze safety trends and identify areas for improvement.
• Conduct regular reviews of safety programs and participate in client-led safety meetings.
• Manage the industrial hygiene program and conduct necessary evaluations.
• Assume the role of Project Safety Specialist (PSS) when appropriate.
• Report safety statistics and information at client meetings.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Employee Health and Safety, or equivalent, required.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive, professional experience in employee health and safety within a constructor or heavy industrial environment.
• Knowledge of OSHA 500, OSHA 300, OSHA 10 and NCCER, 29 CFR 1910 and 29 CFR 1926.
• Understanding of area insurance programs.
• Demonstrated commitment to additional professional growth - additional coursework, training and/or certification are also preferred.
