Job summary

Haskell is seeking a Project Safety Manager to oversee safety and health on nationwide projects. You will protect employees, contract workers, clients, and the public by ensuring compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and policies on every site.

Key duties include safety pre-planning, trainings, inspections, incident investigations, and enforcing the Code of Safe Practice. The role requires 5 years in construction, an associate degree, and recognized safety certifications (STS/CSST/CSSS).

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Associate's degree as a minimum.
  • Industrial Water experience.
  • Recognized safety certification (STS, CSST, CSSS) through BCSP or NCCER.
  • Ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and company regulations.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and execute the company vision and values of Team, Excellence, Service, and Trust.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in safety pre-planning and hazard analysis for a project with the project superintendent.
  • Initiates and monitors project drug screening procedures.
  • Conducts safety orientation and training process for all employees and contracts partners upon arrival on site.
  • Conducts all necessary safety training for an assigned project.
  • Participates in the enforcement of The Haskell Company Code of Safe Practice throughout the project.
  • Supports project superintendent in safety efforts and provides inspection and correction audits on a daily basis.
  • Maintains follow-up procedures for ensuring all items identified are corrected in a timely fashion.
  • If imminent danger is identified, stops operations and coordinates immediate correction with the project superintendent.
  • Verifies training of those involved in hazard generation.
  • Communicates with the assigned Regional Safety Supervisor on all project safety issues and performs monthly SER with RSS assistance.
  • Participates in pre-construction and subcontractor meetings to discuss safety issues prior to commencement of work.
  • Conducts weekly safety meetings with all project employees.
  • Enforces safety rules per disciplinary action guidelines.
  • Maintains all project safety documentation and records.
  • Administers all record keeping and reporting guidelines required by regulatory agencies and company policies.
  • Conducts accident investigations and assists project superintendent in reporting incidents/accidents.
  • Inspects and maintains safety equipment.
  • Issues confined space and hot work permits as required.
  • Accompanies authorized outside entities on safety inspections.
  • Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

Please note our clients and projects are nationwide – Travel will be required.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing project-specific safety and health issues to ensure the protection of Haskell employees, contract partner employees, client personnel, and the general public. You will also evaluate and coordinate project activities to comply with rules, regulations, and policies applicable to project safety.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Participates in safety pre-planning and hazard analysis for a project with the project superintendent
  • Initiates and monitors project drug screening procedures
  • Conducts safety orientation and training process for all employees and contracts partners upon arrival on site
  • Conducts all necessary safety training for an assigned project
  • Participates in the enforcement of The Haskell Company Code of Safe Practice throughout the project
  • Supports project superintendent in safety efforts. Provides inspection and correction audits to the superintendent on a dailybasis for their action with employees and contract partners
  • Maintains follow-up procedures for ensuring all items identified are corrected in a timely fashion
  • Should hazard(s) classified as an imminent danger be identified, stop operations, and protect others from the hazard(s). Contacts project superintendent for immediate correction
  • Verifies training of those involved in the generation of the hazard
  • Communicates with the assigned Regional Safety Supervisor (RSS) on all project safety issues. Performs monthly Safety Evaluation Report (SER) with the assistance of the RSS
  • Participates in pre-construction and subcontractor meetings to discuss/review safety-related issues prior to commencement of their work and be aware of project particulars
  • Conducts weekly safety meetings with all project employees
  • Enforces safety rules per established disciplinary action guidelines
  • Maintains required employee training records and all project safety documentation
  • Administers all record keeping and reporting guidelines as required by regulatory agencies and company policies
  • Conducts accident investigations and assists project superintendent in the prompt reporting of incidents/accidents
  • Inspects and maintains safety equipment
  • Issues confined space and "hot work" permits as required
  • Accompanies any (authorized outside entities) personnel on safety inspections
  • Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
  • 5 years of experience in the construction industry
  • Associate's degree as a minimum
  • Industrial Water experience
  • Recognized safety certification (STS, CSST, CSSS) through BCSP or NCCER
  • Employee should be able to have a thorough understanding of and the ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and company regulations
  • The ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures
