Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, risk management, insurance, law, or a related field.
  • Experience in risk and change identification oversight, commercial advisory, and financial analysis, with additional project risk management, contract management, project controls, construction, engineering, EPCM, or insurance/risk management experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of project risk management principles, risk registers, mitigation planning, and cost and schedule risk concepts.
  • Experience facilitating risk workshops and communicating risk information clearly to project teams, clients, governance bodies, and executive leadership.
  • Ability to define, analyze, and solve complex project problems, translating uncertainty into practical actions and recommendations.

Responsibilities

You’re following your purpose—and there’s still more to come. As part of Jacobs’ Life Sciences North America team, you’ll join a collaborative group of project services and governance professionals supporting major pharmaceutical infrastructure projects.

The Project Risk and Commercial Manager will provide oversight of large-value Life Sciences North America programs, generally exceeding $1 billion in total installed cost (TIC). The role will maintain the day-to-day pulse of the program, identify emerging risks and commercial exposures, challenge assumptions and risk owners, and provide practical advice to project leadership and clients.

This role is primarily focused on oversight, governance, and advisory support, with the knowledge and ability to perform detailed analysis or develop key deliverables when needed. Internally, the role reports program risk status and overall health to the Risk and Governance team and supports executive reporting and financial analysis.

  • Collaborate with the project team to maintain an informed view of program health, performance, emerging issues, change trends, contractual matters, and external developments across workstreams.
  • Lead or support risk and opportunity workshops; challenge risk owners, assumptions, mitigation plans, and residual exposure with project teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Oversee risk registers, mitigation actions, escalation recommendations, and reporting, ensuring risks are actively managed and integrated with cost, schedule, change, commercial, quality, safety, procurement, and design processes.
  • Evaluate quantitative and qualitative risk information, including cost and schedule risk; quantitative risk modeling methods, including Monte Carlo simulation
  • Perform financial and commercial risk analysis, financial modeling, and market or supply chain due diligence as needed.
  • Prepare and review risk dashboards, executive reports, client-facing and internal briefing materials
  • Coordinate with commercial and legal resources as needed on protections and risk transfer.
  • Provide hands-on support, as needed, for forecasts, change evaluations, claims readiness, compliance tracking, commercial reviews, and other risk-based project deliverables.
  • Promote consistent risk and commercial management practices and identify opportunities to improve processes, tools, data quality, reporting, technology, and automation across the portfolio.

Here's what you'll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business, risk management, insurance, law, or a related field.
  • Experience in risk and change identification oversight, commercial advisory, and financial analysis, with additional project risk management, contract management, project controls, construction, engineering, EPCM, or insurance/risk management experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of project risk management principles, risk registers, mitigation planning, and cost and schedule risk concepts.
  • Experience facilitating risk workshops and communicating risk information clearly to project teams, clients, governance bodies, and executive leadership.
  • Ability to define, analyze, and solve complex project problems, translating uncertainty into practical actions and recommendations.
  • General understanding of contractual risk allocation, indemnity provisions, insurance requirements, change management, claims, and general principles of project commercial management.
  • Experience integrating risk management with project controls, cost, schedule, commercial, quality, safety, procurement, and design processes.
  • Motivated and collaborative, while able to work independently and exercise sound judgment in a project delivery environment.
  • Strong desire to seek out learning opportunities and improve project and organizational risk and commercial practices.
  • Clear ability to take initiative, influence without direct authority, and drive accountability for risk responses and commercial actions.
  • Ability to manage multiple demands across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Engineering, construction, EPCM, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or advanced manufacturing industry experience.
  • Experience working directly with clients, project governance teams, or public/private project owners.
  • Industry certification or equivalent evidence of continuing professional education.

The base salary range for this position is $160,000.00 to $265,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
