Job summary

Position Summary

The Project Quality Manager is responsible for leading quality management activities throughout project execution, ensuring that wind turbine deliveries and installations meet customer specifications and Nordex quality requirements. The PQM works closely with Project Management, Manufacturing, Site Quality, Installation, Commissioning, Service, suppliers, and customers to proactively identify, manage, and resolve quality-related issues while supporting successful project delivery. The role serves as the primary quality representative for customers and holds responsibility for project quality performance related to cost, quality, and schedule objectives.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Customer & Project Quality Management
  • Act as the primary quality representative for customers throughout project execution.
  • Support Sales during the offer and tendering phase by reviewing customer quality requirements.
  • Develop and manage Project Quality Plans for North American projects.
  • Ensure contractual quality requirements are communicated and implemented throughout manufacturing and project execution.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor manufacturing quality deliverables and ensure compliance with customer specifications.
  • Lead the management and resolution of significant non-conformities identified during transportation, installation, and commissioning.
  • Ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively and verified for long-term resolution.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives across project teams and suppliers.
Customer Audits & Claims Management
  • Coordinate customer audits and inspections throughout project execution.
  • Manage actions resulting from audits and communicate progress with customers.
  • Serve as the quality focal point for customer claims and supplier-related quality issues.
Project Handover & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Support installation quality activities with on-site quality teams.
  • Ensure complete transfer of quality-related documentation, lessons learned, and open items during project handover to Operations & Maintenance teams.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support safe, successful project execution.
WHAT YOU’LL HAVE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Project Quality Management, Construction Management, Manufacturing, Plant Engineering, or related technical project environments.
  • Experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or quality-focused project roles.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, including ISO 9001, APQP, or equivalent methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple business functions and cultural environments.
  • Experience within the wind energy industry or other utility‑scale energy sectors.
  • Training or certification in Six Sigma, FMEA, 8D, or other quality improvement methodologies.
  • Experience working with supplier quality management and customer‑facing quality programs.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively within North America and internationally as business needs require.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid passport.
  • Driving is an essential function of the role. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and maintain insurability under company policy.
  • Must be able to meet specific OSHA and ANSI weight requirements of 265 pounds or less.
  • Must successfully complete a pre‑employment physical evaluation and be able to safely perform the physical requirements of the position.

The pay for this role is exempt at $120k - $135k USD salary with up to a 15% bonus. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
