Job summary

Volvo Trucks North America is seeking a Project Quality Engineer to lead quality planning and risk management across product launches, ensuring robust controls and compliant manufacturing processes.

You will drive PFMEAs, Control Plans, and audits, mentor teams, and deliver defect-free products with high customer satisfaction while collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain at the NRV plant.

Qualifications

  • University degree in technical or commercial area or equivalent knowledge based on experience.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management & Risk Assessment practices.
  • Experience with Process Validation, Statistical Analysis and Auditing.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting using Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead quality planning and risk management across project implementation.
  • Identify and mitigate quality risks to ensure SOP-ready processes.
  • Plan and execute capability studies, audits, and product audits.
  • Support product launches from early builds through SOP.

As a Project Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in bringing new products to life by ensuring robust quality controls, minimizing risk, and enabling sustainable manufacturing performance that delivers defect-free products and exceptional customer satisfaction.

Core Responsibilities

As the quality lead within project teams, you will ensure quality requirements are integrated, validated, and sustained throughout the project lifecycle—from early development and pre-production through Start of Production (SOP). You will help ensure assembly processes are designed and validated to consistently meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and Volvo quality standards.

To achieve this, you will:

  • Lead quality planning and risk management throughout project implementation by deploying PFMEAs, Control Plans, quality standards, and validation plans.
  • Identify and mitigate project quality risks through structured risk management, ensuring stable, capable, and compliant manufacturing processes at SOP.
  • Plan and execute capability studies, process audits, and product audits to verify process readiness, validate controls, and ensure compliance with customer and organizational requirements.
  • Support product launches from early build phases (C-Build and P-Build) through SOP, ensuring quality requirements are met and sustainable manufacturing performance is achieved.
  • Lead resolution of project quality issues using data-driven analysis and structured problem-solving methods to identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement by analyzing quality data, identifying trends, reducing risk, and improving process capability and product quality throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

Preferred Requirements about following experience

  • Automotive manufacturing and assembly environments.
  • Supporting new product launches, process implementation, or industrialization projects.
  • Developing and maintaining PFMEAs and Control Plans.
  • Conducting process capability studies and statistical process validation.
  • Planning, conducting, and reporting process and product audits.
  • Participating in quality risk assessments and mitigation activities.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and manufacturing data systems is preferred.
  • Working within cross-functional project teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Analyzing quality , warranty and manufacturing data to support decision-making and continuous Customer Satisfaction improvement initiatives.

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $83,470.00 - $103,110.00 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
