Job summary

WSP USA seeks a Project Officer Associate in New York City to support the NYC School Construction Authority on-site team. You will report to senior project officers and assist with a broad range of construction management tasks in development stages.

Responsibilities include reviewing permit documents, supporting applicants, and coordinating with city agencies to ensure compliance and timely approvals. Travel across NYC may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources.
• Working knowledge of standard computer systems (Excel, Word).

The successful candidate will report to senior-level project officers and perform a broad range of construction management-related technical tasks in a supportive role to assist in the oversight of various construction projects in various stages of development as part of the SCA's on-site team.

The successful candidate will report to senior-level project officers and perform a broad range of construction management-related technical tasks in a supportive role to assist in the oversight of various construction projects in various stages of development as part of the SCA's on-site team.

Your Impact

Responsibilities

• Review documents submitted for city-required building and other permits for completeness and accuracy.


• Provide support to permit applicants in completing the filing procedure with various City agencies.


• Deliver documents to various city agencies for data entry, review and/or approval.


• Work closely with Plan Examiners in reviewing documents for City Building Code and for guaranteeing code compliance.


• Research existing building status from City records at various agencies.


• Support senior project officers in ensuring the quality and high standards of performance and compliance in both design and construction by all consultants, vendors, etc.


• Perform any other related tasks necessary to support supervisors or SCA personnel in order to ensure the successful completion of construction projects.

Duties

• Visit various job sites as required in the performance of the above duties.


• Perform other related tasks as may be required by the SCA.


• Provide after hours/night coverage for emergency coordination as needed.


• Provide weekend coverage as needed


• Travel throughout New York City is required; a vehicle will be necessary with a valid driver’s license.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from an accredited college or university


• A driver's license valid in New York State.


• Six (6) months of experience working in the construction industry or equivalent


• Ability to exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.


• Ability to uphold workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.


• Working knowledge/literacy of standard computer systems (e.g. Excel, Word).

Compensation And Benefits

Expected Salary: $74,200 - $80,000
