Job summary

Pennoni in Philadelphia, PA is seeking a Project Engineer to help lead our water and wastewater projects on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Philadelphia, PA.

Responsibilities include supporting municipal engineering reviews, design and permitting, preparing reports, and coordinating master planning with a diverse team. A Civil or Environmental Engineering degree and 6+ years of infrastructure experience are required; PE is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (preferably Civil or Environmental).
  • 6+ years of professional experience in engineering with infrastructure/utility projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support water and wastewater projects for municipalities and utilities.
  • Contribute to design, permitting, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Prepare technical reports and coordinate with master planning efforts.
  • Perform field inspections and support project teams as needed.

Job description

Pennoni is hiring! In particular, we are looking for a Project Engineer to help lead our water & wastewater projects on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Philadelphia, PA . Primary Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities
  • Work on a variety of wet utilities (water / wastewater) projects; this includes municipal engineering for Pennsylvania municipalities (including subdivision & land development reviews, road rehabilitation, stormwater management / MS4, capital improvements, grant writing, and attendance at public meetings).
  • Contribute to infrastructure planning efforts; this includes providing recommendations & cost estimates, coordinating feasibility studies, and developing solutions.
  • Serve as our Engineer of Record on design/construction activities for plants and/or pipeline projects.
  • Preparation of engineering reports.
  • Work on project design and permitting.
  • Coordinate master planning-related tasks.
  • Perform (outdoor) construction inspection work, when needed.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering-oriented discipline (preferably Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering).
  • 6+ years of professional experience working in Engineering, preferably with infrastructure / utility projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PE Experience working on infrastructure / utility projects, especially with wet utilities.
  • (i.e.: preparing & managing budgets while overseeing project schedules / ensuring timely completion) is a plus!
  • Experience working on design and permitting activities.
  • Experience working with water resources (such as stream and waterway restoration) is a plus!
  • Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, GIS, analytical programs, etc.); experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ArcGIS / ArcInfo is preferred.
  • Experience with H&H tools (e.g.: InfoSWWM, HydroCAD, OpenFlows WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, & SewerGEMS) is a plus!
  • Proficiency on all standard Microsoft Office software applications (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision while displaying a positive attitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written); technical writing skills are strongly preferred!
