Job summary

Kokosing is seeking a seasoned construction project manager to plan, direct, and coordinate a diverse set of industrial projects, primarily water/wastewater facilities, with data centers and production plants. You will oversee one large project or several smaller ones, ensuring safety, schedule, and budget adherence while coordinating with clients, subcontractors, and government agencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • PE credentialing is not required but is a strong plus.
  • 7+ years’ experience in construction, design, finance, and management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure project goals are met within time and budget by directing the team.
  • Lead Project Engineers, Superintendents, and Foremen; drive performance.
  • Coordinate with prime client to facilitate construction activities.
  • Set objectives, policies, and performance standards per corporate policy.
  • Develop work plans; assign duties and authority to staff.
  • Staff and recruit project personnel for each phase.
  • Monitor progress; adjust schedules to stay on time and budget.
  • Prepare management and client reports for stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and resolve problems with project staff.
  • Coordinate with government agencies and subcontractors.
  • Understand and execute CPM-based project schedules.
  • Ensure safety; represent Kokosing in owner meetings.
  • Manage contracts financials; responsible for profit or loss.
  • Lead field coordination and safety kickoff meetings; mentor team.

Job Description

Plans, directs, and coordinates construction activities for a wide variety of industrial projects. Project types range from water/wastewater plants (primarily) to factories/production facilities, data centers across a wide variety of industries and clients.

Typical workload volume is overseeing one large project or a couple/several smaller projects.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure project goals are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
  • Manage Project Engineers, Superintendents, and Foremen who supervise construction employees; charged with overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the team.
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with prime client to facilitate construction activities.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy.
  • Confers with project staff to outline work plan, assign duties/responsibilities and authority.
  • Establish work plan and staffing for each phase of project—arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure work progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Reviews project proposal or plan to determine the timeframe, funding limitations, project procedures, staffing requirements, and available resources to various phases of project.
  • Reviews status reports from project personnel and modifies schedules/plans as needed.
  • Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Coordinates project activities with activities of governmental agencies and subcontractors.
  • Understands and is able to analyze and execute CPM-based project schedules.
  • Monitors/controls construction through administrative direction of on-site Superintendent to ensure project is built safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Represents company in owner progress meetings.
  • Manages financial aspects of contracts and is responsible for project profit or loss.
  • Leads project team in daily field coordination meetings, weekly block schedule meetings, and monthly safety kickoff meetings.
  • Mentoring and assists with career development of other team members.
  • Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Interviewing/hiring; training; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding/disciplining; addressing complaints/resolving problems.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • PE credentialing is not required but is a strong plus.
  • 7+ years’ experience/knowledge of construction, design, finance, and management required.
  • Open to other large construction experience.
Skills and Abilities
  • Understand and interpret safety laws and company policies/standards.
  • Apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, and their impact on project activities.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills essential.
  • Business oriented person.
  • Ability to assure responsibility, interface, and communicate effectively with others.
