Job summary

Garver’s North Carolina Water team is seeking a Project Manager to lead and oversee water and wastewater projects in Charlotte, NC. This role involves managing design documents and ensuring client satisfaction while mentoring project engineers.

Qualified candidates must hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree, possess significant experience in the water/wastewater sector, and demonstrate strong communication skills. The position offers benefits including professional memberships and competitive salary.

Qualifications

  • Licensed professional engineer in North Carolina or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months of hire.
  • Six or more years of similar experience in the water/wastewater utilities market.

Job description

Project Manager – Water

Garver’s North Carolina Water team is looking for a Project Manager to lead and oversee water and wastewater projects in our Charlotte, NC office.

As a Project Manager, you will manage design reports, studies, technical memoranda, detailed plans, and specifications, while ensuring client expectations are exceeded. You will coordinate with clients, internal staff, and external partners, mentor project engineers, manage schedules and budgets, and ensure delivery of high quality products.

Project Types
  • Water conveyance and distribution, including pump stations and storage facilities
  • Wastewater conveyance and collection, including lift stations, gravity systems, and force mains
  • Pipeline inspection and rehabilitation
  • Water and wastewater master planning
  • Water and wastewater treatment facilities
Routine Functions
  • Be technically competent in water or wastewater engineering and civil engineering
  • Manage scope, budget, and schedule for a team of project engineers, design engineers, and CAD technicians
  • Develop detailed project instructions, scope of work, level of effort, and associated man‑hour estimates
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date project accounting
  • Conduct written and oral project reporting for clients and team leaders
  • Prepare and deliver quality assurance and quality control plans
  • Provide construction engineering administration for local projects
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, biological, or similar engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Experience with Civil3D and ArcGIS
  • Strong communication skills
