Job summary

Fehr Graham in Champaign, IL, is seeking a Project Manager to lead wastewater solutions projects, manage schedules, staffing and budgets, and deliver quality results. You’ll also design treatment systems, prepare plans and reports, and coordinate with clients and internal teams.

The ideal candidate has a PE license, 8 years of engineering experience with 2+ years in PM, and strong communication and leadership skills to foster client relationships and project success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 8 years of engineering experience with 2+ years in Project Management.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Experience with wastewater processes and anaerobic digestion systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage wastewater solutions projects.
  • Resolve scheduling, staffing and quality issues to deliver on time and budget.
  • Design and develop wastewater treatment systems and related infrastructure.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and technical reports for municipal/industrial projects.

What you’ll do

As a Project Manager, you’ll lead and manage wastewater solutions projects. You’ll also resolve scheduling, staffing and quality issues to deliver results on time and within budget. You’ll also:

  • Design and develop wastewater treatment systems, collection systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports for municipal and industrial wastewater projects.
  • Perform hydraulic modeling, process design, and system optimization.
  • Apply expertise in anaerobic digestion of biosolids, including system design, evaluation, and optimization for treatment efficiency and energy recovery.
  • Support and guide projects involving biosolids management strategies, including anaerobic digestion processes, regulatory compliance, and operational best practices.
  • Business development with clients in existing and new markets.
  • Builds and maintains client relationships.
  • Effectively communicate ideas and technical concepts to co-workers and with clients on sensitive and complex matters.
  • Lead projects utilizing staff and sub‑consultant resources to successful completion of projects on schedule and on budget.
  • Prepare client contract, statement of qualifications, priced proposals and contracts.
  • Quality control for assigned projects and clients.
  • Work on complex projects.
  • Prepare documents and reports.
  • Perform work that involves non‑conventional planning.
What it takes

Ideally, you’ll have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a similar degree with appropriate experience. You should have 8 years of experience in engineering with 2+ years of Project Management experience. You should be a licensed Professional Engineer. Ideally, you’ll also:

  • Navigate Illinois Environmental Protection Agency regulations with ease.
  • Have proven client relationship management skills.
  • Be a smart worker and a team player.
  • Be well‑acquainted with wastewater processes, methods, and state and federal requirements, including biosolids treatment and anaerobic digestion systems.
  • Use engineering software.
  • Speak and write well.
  • Have strong analytical and organizational skills.
