Job summary

Jobtailor in Hartford, CT is seeking a senior wastewater engineer to lead design, hydraulic modeling, and rehabilitation projects across the full project lifecycle. You will coordinate with clients, manage teams, and ensure deliverables meet budget and schedule requirements.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree, a PE license (or ability to obtain within six months), and 7+ years of wastewater experience with SewerGEMS/SWMM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
• PE license required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• 7+ years in wastewater collection systems and conveyance design.
• Experience with sewer hydraulics and modeling tools (SewerGEMS, SWMM) and pump station design.
• Strong gravity sewer design, force main systems, and rehabilitation methods.
• Experience with CIPP, pipe bursting, HDD, and microtunneling preferred.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on schedule and budget.
• Visa sponsorship is NOT available for this position.
• Successful criminal background check required.

• Create, innovate, and design long-lasting improvements for communities
• Manage the full lifecycle of wastewater collection and conveyance projects
• Lead resiliency and condition assessments, including inflow and infiltration evaluations, rehabilitation planning, and design
• Oversee and evaluate CCTV inspection programs and incorporate findings into system improvement strategies
• Direct hydraulic modeling, capacity analyses, and system master planning efforts
• Lead project teams, coordinate resources, and manage budgets, schedules, and deliverables
• Perform and review engineering analyses, designs, and technical reports
• Prepare and present proposals, technical memoranda, plans and specifications, and cost estimates
• Manage construction-phase services, including submittal reviews, RFIs, and field coordination
• Mentor and support junior engineering staff
• Build and maintain client relationships and contribute to business development

Requirements

• Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within 6 months
• 7+ years of experience in wastewater collection systems and conveyance design
