Qualifications

Position: Project Manager

Location: Columbus, OH

American Structurepoint is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead traffic and transportation projects within the Traffic Group. The Project Manager will have primary responsibility for the successful delivery of assigned projects, including client satisfaction, scope, schedule, budget, profitability, technical quality, resource management, and team coordination.

The successful candidate will be an organized and proactive leader who can effectively manage multidisciplinary project teams, develop and maintain strong client relationships, anticipate project needs and risks, and consistently deliver high-quality work on schedule and within budget. The Project Manager will also play an important role in staff development, workload planning, business development, and the continued growth of the Traffic Group.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for assigned projects from project initiation through final delivery and closeout.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, fees, schedules, budgets, work plans, staffing needs, and deliverables.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate effectively with internal staff, subconsultants, clients, stakeholders, and reviewing agencies.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including earned revenue, budgets, percent complete, invoicing, profitability, and accounts receivable, and proactively address potential issues.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients regarding project progress, decisions, schedules, budgets, and emerging issues.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships with an emphasis on client satisfaction, responsiveness, trust, and repeat business.
  • Establish clear expectations for project staff, delegate assignments effectively, and hold team members accountable for schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Coordinate resource needs with Traffic Group leadership and proactively identify upcoming workload or staffing constraints.
  • Oversee preparation of plans, studies, reports, calculations, specifications, and other technical deliverables in accordance with applicable DOT, municipal, and industry standards.
  • Establish and implement appropriate QA/QC procedures and ensure technical reviews are completed prior to deliverable submission.
  • Identify project risks early and develop appropriate strategies to address potential scope, schedule, budget, staffing, or technical challenges.
  • Lead project kickoff, coordination, progress, and closeout meetings and maintain appropriate project documentation.
  • Mentor and develop Deputy Project Managers, task leaders, engineers, and technical staff by providing meaningful project responsibility, guidance, and feedback.
  • Participate in and support business development, including client relationship development, opportunity identification, proposal preparation, scopes and fee development, interviews, and contract negotiations.
  • Support development of project backlog and identify opportunities for follow-on and repeat work with existing clients.
  • Promote collaboration and effective resource sharing across groups, disciplines, and design centers consistent with American Structurepoint's ONE company philosophy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Ohio, or ability to obtain Ohio PE reciprocity within six months of employment.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive traffic and transportation engineering experience, including demonstrated project management and technical leadership responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience managing ODOT, LPA, county, and/or municipal transportation projects in Ohio.
  • Working knowledge of ODOT project development processes, standards, specifications, manuals, and procedures, as well as applicable AASHTO and MUTCD requirements.
  • Experience managing traffic engineering projects involving one or more of the following: traffic operations and capacity analysis, traffic safety studies, traffic signal design, signing and pavement marking, lighting, maintenance of traffic, traffic forecasting, interchange/corridor studies, and/or transportation planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage project scopes, fees, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, subconsultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong understanding of project financial management, including budget monitoring, invoicing, profitability, forecasting, and change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as the primary client contact, manage client expectations, and build productive relationships with ODOT, municipalities, counties, MPOs, and other transportation agencies.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to delegate work, mentor staff, manage competing priorities, and lead projects from initiation through closeout.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with clients, reviewing agencies, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint or similar project and financial management software.
