Job summary

Forensic Analytical Consulting Services, Inc. in Downers Grove, IL, is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to lead asbestos, lead, mold and other industrial hygiene projects.

Primary Function:

Lead and manage all aspects of asbestos, lead, mold and other industrial hygiene projects including conversing with potential and existing clients; managing project coordinators, project managers and/or technicians, proposal generation, managing project budgets and generating final reports and remediation specifications. Additional responsibilities include performing on-site surveys, inspections, assessments, abatement oversight and monitoring and auditing of safety procedures and applicable regulations associated with industrial hygiene and environmental projects.

Responsibilities
Operational
  • Prepare proposals and budgets for projects and present to clients for approval.
  • Forecast revenue over 90 day period.
  • Attend job walks, pre-construction job walks and attend meetings with potential and existing clients.
  • Review project scope and select tasks and deliverables.
  • Field calls from potential and existing clients with ability and knowledge to answer questions.
  • Review and provide feedback for project drawings, plans and specifications.
  • Perform field investigations.
  • Monitor project budgets, determine the scope, turn-around time, client interaction, timing and rates.
  • Monitor and guide field personnel activity and quality.
  • Review time-entry for staff on projects to ensure correct rates and budgets are met.
  • Check turn-around times for laboratory analysis and details of outside laboratory charges on the
  • Maintain WIP (work in progress) to verify they are entered and correct.
  • Select, rent or borrow the necessary equipment for projects.
  • Prepare and review reports for projects.
  • Meet the targets specified in the Incentive Compensation Plan.
  • Follow the procedure for invoicing projects on a progress or a final close out.
  • Provide assistance to Accounting when tasked for collections or invoicing issues.
  • Ensure accurate time and expenses entry daily, and update milestones.
  • Assist with recruitment of staff by participating in interviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Perform the responsibilities of the Client Resources Manager.
  • Work with Supervisor to establish personal operational goals.
  • Save and organize all project-related paperwork into electronic project file.
  • Verify equipment calibration and record.
People Development
  • Provide leadership and management to the assigned team.
  • Work with the Project Coordinators and team to follow procedures for opening new projects; includes completing Project Intake Form with all required information, establish the schedule for the project and assign staff.
  • Ensure that Project Coordinators are billable and achieve their bill revenue
Business Development
  • Achieve 100% of Billable revenue target as set by the company.
  • Maintain relationships with clients and grow business from existing customer base.
  • Refer opportunities for new service lines within existing accounts and/or new customer opportunities to the appropriate FACS Business Development or Sales representative.
  • Make and log customer service/business development calls in Client Resource Management (CRM) system.
  • Attend association meetings, as requested by Director.
  • Progress calls and assign meeting attendance into personal meetings and/or presentations.
  • Attend targeted meetings.
  • Arrange presentation opportunities.
  • Deliver presentations.
  • Refer and/or engage the Business Development team in local opportunities.
  • Assist in the preparation of marketing resources (project summaries).
Technical
  • Maintain technical certifications
  • Attend required technical training (internal, FACS University, and external).
  • Assist in the development of staff
  • Participate in Quality Assurance / Quality Control audits
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Project Manager, successfully managing large and complex projects in at least one of our service lines.
  • Must have established relationships with multiple clients from successfully managing their projects and be the clients' main contact for the company
  • Willing to travel when necessary and flexibility in schedule.
  • Deep knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, practices, and regulations, including exposure assessments, hazard control, and personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical data effectively communicate findings to diverse technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Competent in all aspects of computing software necessary for the position.
  • Possess professional and proficient verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Abilities:
  • Effective, professional, and clear communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Flexibility in work schedule and willing to travel to different project locations, as needed.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office
  • Experience in using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software with Project Management and Client Resource Management (CRM) features
Education / Credential:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Health and Safety, Biological or Physical Science or equivalent.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification is required
