Job summary

Pharmaron is seeking a Project Manager / Senior Project Manager to lead client-facing API programs at the Coventry, Rhode Island site. The role spans development through GMP manufacturing, tech transfer, and commercial production, requiring strong cross-functional leadership and excellent stakeholder management.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in a chemistry/engineering discipline with 7+ years in pharma API, plus 3+ years in project management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years in the pharmaceutical API/small-molecule industry.
  • 3+ years of formal project management experience.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing complex schedules, priorities, risks, and deliverables.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, including client interaction.
  • PMP or equivalent certification is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead API development, technology transfer, and GMP manufacturing project planning and execution.
  • Build and manage integrated project schedules with milestones, dependencies, and forecasts.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams across Chemistry, Manufacturing, QA, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Finance.
  • Establish clear deliverables, ownership, and readiness gates throughout the lifecycle.
  • Monitor risks, drive mitigations, and manage change orders with Finance and BD.
  • Serve as primary client contact and support governance/meetings.

What You'll Do

Pharmaron is seeking an experienced Project Manager / Senior Project Manager to lead client-facing API programs at our Coventry, Rhode Island site.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex small-molecule programs across the development lifecycle-from early-phase development and clinical supply through technology transfer, GMP manufacturing, process validation, and commercial production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead API development, technology transfer, and GMP manufacturing project planning and execution.
  • Build and manage integrated project schedules, including milestones, dependencies, critical paths, resource assumptions, and forecasts.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams across Process Chemistry, Manufacturing, Analytical/QC, QA, Supply Chain, EHS, Regulatory, Finance, and Business Development.
  • Establish clear deliverables, ownership, decision points, and readiness gates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify schedule, capacity, and execution risks early and drive mitigation, escalation, and recovery plans.
  • Serve as a key project contact for clients and support project governance and status meetings.
  • Communicate timelines, progress, risks, and potential solutions clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Own project scope, budgets, milestone commitments, and forecasts.
  • Assess the impact of scope changes and coordinate change orders in partnership with Finance and Business Development.
  • Support proposals and RFPs by developing realistic schedules, assumptions, and resource requirements.
  • Track and report project KPIs through site dashboards and quarterly reviews.
  • Support cross-site project execution and project closeout, including lessons learned.
  • Contribute to project management standards, templates, planning processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide project management support for site CAPEX and capability projects as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with cGMP, EHS, DEA, site SOPs, and applicable training requirements.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific/engineering discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience within the pharmaceutical API/small-molecule industry.
  • 3+ years of formal project management experience.
  • Experience supporting programs across multiple stages of the API lifecycle, including early-phase development, PPQ/process validation, and commercial manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams and manage complex schedules, priorities, risks, and deliverables.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to work directly with clients and internal technical teams.
  • PMP or equivalent formal project management certification is highly desirable.
