Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) seeks a Project Manager - Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer for our Metro DC area offices in Rockville, MD or Fairfax, VA. You will lead a project team, coordinate design and construction, and ensure timely delivery of complex HVAC and building systems projects.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 10+ years of experience, and a PE license, with strong leadership and travel readiness to project sites across the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
• Solid understanding of building design and codes.
• Strong leadership to meet deadlines and manage contracts.
• Ability to travel to project sites within the region.

Responsibilities

• Lead project work on concurrent projects, including budgets, tracking hours and expenses, task completion, cost and quantities of labor, technical calculations, permit applications, schematics, construction, and regulatory/technical memos
• Manage the technical development, scheduling, and resolving engineering design issues
• Be hands-on with projects from inception to completion in managing mechanical design and construction of building and infrastructure projects, including rehabilitation and reconstruction, new builds, design specifications, and phasing
• Utilize engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various building projects, including concept development, preliminary design, final design, and/or construction
• Direct interaction with regulatory agencies, sub-contractors, and clients professionally

Requirements

• Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
• Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
• Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
• Able to climb and leave a ladder to a platform varying from 6' to 20'
• Able to wear and operate personal fall arresting apparatus, and work at a height of 6' or higher
• Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
