Job description

Project Manager / Scrum Master, Data & Analytics Delivery (Contract)

Contract Duration: 1 year engagement with possibility to extend

Location: Central Time Zone (Remote)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager / Scrum Master to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of enterprise data initiatives. This individual will serve as the operational backbone of the Data Products organization, ensuring that priorities are translated into actionable work and delivered reliably across multiple teams.

You will be responsible for driving delivery across a portfolio of data solutions, including data pipelines, semantic models, reporting assets, analytics platforms, and modernization initiatives. Success in this position requires a proactive leader who can anticipate risks, manage dependencies, maintain execution discipline, and provide transparent reporting to stakeholders.

This role goes beyond facilitating meetings. You will be accountable for delivery outcomes, team operating rhythms, dependency management, and ensuring strategic initiatives move from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities
Agile Delivery Leadership
  • Facilitate and optimize Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement sessions, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Ensure meetings result in decisions, clear actions, and measurable progress.
  • Partner with Product Owners and technical leads to maintain healthy, prioritized, and well-groomed backlogs.
Program and Release Management
  • Develop and manage integrated project plans covering multiple initiatives and delivery streams.
  • Coordinate dependencies across business units, ERP teams, infrastructure groups, third-party vendors, and engineering teams.
  • Manage release schedules and production deployments, including communication plans, validation procedures, risk mitigation strategies, and rollback planning.
Work Intake and Prioritization
  • Translate business requests into clearly defined user stories and epics with measurable acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure requirements include data quality standards, testing expectations, documentation requirements, and business validation criteria.
  • Support prioritization activities by balancing strategic initiatives with operational and maintenance work.
Dependency and Risk Management
  • Identify potential delivery risks and roadblocks early.
  • Drive issue resolution through collaboration and escalation when needed.
  • Present leadership with practical recommendations and mitigation options rather than simply reporting problems.
Delivery Reporting and Performance Metrics
  • Monitor and communicate key delivery indicators, including:
  • Throughput
  • Cycle time
  • Work item aging
  • Sprint spillover
  • Capacity allocation between support and strategic work
  • Produce concise, accurate, and actionable status updates for stakeholders and leadership.
Process Improvement
  • Continuously refine delivery practices to improve predictability, efficiency, and quality.
  • Drive enhancements in estimation accuracy, capacity planning, backlog management, intake processes, and sprint execution.
  • Promote best practices that reduce unplanned work and increase overall team effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience leading technical project delivery efforts.
  • Minimum 3 years serving as a Scrum Master, Agile Project Manager, or Delivery Lead in data, analytics, or technology organizations.
  • Demonstrated success delivering data-focused solutions from requirements through production implementation.
  • Strong understanding of modern data engineering concepts including:
  • Data profiling
  • ETL/ELT processes
  • Dimensional data modeling
  • Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD)
  • Data quality testing and validation
  • Workflow orchestration
  • Business intelligence and semantic layer design
  • Advanced experience using Jira for Agile planning, reporting, workflow management, and performance tracking.
  • Experience creating and maintaining project documentation in Confluence or similar collaboration platforms.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities and stakeholder groups simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience producing project plans, executive status reports, risk logs, and decision documentation.
  • Experience coordinating geographically distributed teams, including offshore and contract resources.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting delivery within modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Amazon Redshift, or Google BigQuery.
  • Familiarity with contemporary data integration technologies including dbt, Matillion, Fivetran, or similar solutions.
  • Working knowledge of AWS services commonly used in data ecosystems, such as S3, Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions.
  • Exposure to SAP or other enterprise ERP platforms, including understanding of release cycles and data extraction considerations.
  • Power BI or Microsoft Fabric implementations
  • ETL platform modernization and cloud migration initiatives
  • Familiarity with data governance programs, metadata management, data cataloging, lineage tracking, and master data management practices.
  • Industry experience in retail, e-commerce, wholesale distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain operations.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PMI-ACP, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or Professional Scrum Master (PSM).
What Success Looks Like

In this role, success means delivering high-quality data products consistently, maintaining transparency into delivery health, proactively managing risks and dependencies, and helping the organization scale from reactive support operations to a mature, product-oriented delivery model. You will be a key contributor to ensuring strategic data initiatives are completed on time, aligned with business priorities, and capable of driving measurable value.
