Project Manager / Project Engineer - Water Resources

Thomas & Hutton has an opening for a Project Manager / Project Engineer - Water Resources in Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate will take ownership, lead, and grow our Water Resources department as part of a multi-discipline engineering office with strong public and private sector clients. The successful candidate will be experienced in stormwater master planning, drainage and stormwater management design, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, and permitting, with capabilities to perform various design tasks in civil engineering. This position is ideal for ambitious candidates seeking career growth.

Typical Duties Include:
  • Managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Handling project proposals, scope and fee development, project management, and scheduling.
  • Coordinating with clients, contractors, consultants, government agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Executing watershed studies, stormwater master plans, hydrologic/hydraulic analysis, drainage design, stormwater management, erosion and sedimentation control, NPDES permitting, and designing/inspecting LID infrastructure and SWM BMPs.
  • Managing water resource studies, FEMA LOMAs, and capital projects.
  • Mentoring team members and monitoring project scope and fees.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; PE registration, preferably in Georgia.
  • 10+ years of experience in Water Resources.
  • Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, stormwater management, green infrastructure, erosion and sediment control.
  • Experience in contract document preparation.
Skills:
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, ArcMap, hydrologic/hydraulic software.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • Client-oriented, self-motivated, team player.
  • Field work capability including lifting 25 lbs.
  • Work schedule: Mon.-Thurs. 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Fri. 7:30 AM - 11:30 AM.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in Georgia & South Carolina.
  • Knowledge of ICPR4, HEC-RAS, XPSWMM, Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis.
  • Experience with water quality or TMDL studies.
