PROJECT MANAGER / PROJECT ARCHITECT JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Type: Full Time in Office | Minimum Years of Experience: 10+ | Location: Raleigh, NC

Andre Johnson Architects (AJA+) is seeking a full-time Project Manager or Project Architect to join their diverse group of design-oriented architects and designers. In this position, you will participate in all phases of the project development from design through construction. You will lead projects with a particular emphasis on the technical execution of innovative building designs. An ideal candidate for this role possesses a creative mindset coupled with strong problem-solving skills. You will be working in a highly collaborative environment under the guidance of the studio’s Principal while leading and fostering the development of emerging professionals. AJA+ prioritizes a lighthearted and positive culture; the ideal candidate brings enthusiasm and a sense of humor to our team dynamic.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Licensed architect – any jurisdiction in the U.S.
• LEED Accredited professional a plus
• AIA membership a plus
• 10+ years of professional experience post-graduation
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree(s) in architecture by a U.S. accredited NAAB institution

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with a talented and creative design team to develop projects through all phases of the architectural design process.
• Develop and adhere to the project schedule, in collaboration with the design principal.
• Supervise and participate in the development of all project deliverables, including programming documents, renderings, client presentations, and construction documents.
• Maximize the project’s technical performance through constructability reviews and discussions with the design principal and other licensed professionals.
• Lead coordination efforts with the project consultants, including engineers, commissioning agents, specification writers, and product manufacturers.
• Maintain active communication with the client, balancing client expectations within the context of contractual obligations, budget, and quality.
• Assist in the bidding and negotiation phase of the project.
• Oversee construction administration of the project, including attending OAC meetings, reviewing submittals/RFI’s, and maintaining communication throughout construction.
• Mentor emerging professionals in the studio that are on the path to licensure.
